Then I realized that times change. Schools used to require instruction in Latin, and kids had to read the "classics" of Cicero, Plato, Aristotle, etc. That sort of thing may be taught in bits or electives, but it is no longer a main part of the curriculum. Times changed, and those were no longer deemed essential.
Why don't we also get rid of history classes, I mean it is all about the past, that time could be used to teach students something that is relative to what they will be doing in the future? Given the poor performance of U.S. students compared to other developed countries can we really say the choices that have been made in what was deemed essential for students to learn were the correct ones?

So, all your LEGAL DOX, you just print your name?
On legal documents, like contracts and legal tender, I stylize my name with print letters. There is no legal course for cursive lettering in a signature.
ok, well, there you have it...
I suppose any type of mark in the space provided satisfies the requirement...
do you ever write notes to yourself?
I do, and I write in cursive, but I suppose, if you're used to printing everything, you'll print notes to yourself too, right?!

In today's Advocate, Bill 275 passes unanimously in the Senate mandating teaching cursive writing in state public schools. The bill now heads to the House for debate/vote.
Article states Senator Beth Mizell from Franklinton says it is needed so students can "appreciate historical documents and carry distinctive signatures." I agree. It would be sad if students look at the Constitution and Declaration of Independence like it is a foreign language and can't even read it.

No.
Might as well make them learn Latin while you're teaching them useless skills.

Friend of mine is a teacher and was just talking about this yesterday. She said John White is the one who "got rid of it" but it's being brought back. She's still wondering if the people in charge have ever spent any real time in the classroom.
