I've wondered why cyclists "need" to spread out for a bike ride?
If you pseudo pros in dress up spandex are so good, then why don't y'all ride single file, let the lead set the pace, exchange the lead amongst yourselves to maintain the planned pace and/or interval train pace along the shoulder line?
Why do y'all feel the need to hog an entire lane if not just to be supreme assholes?

I'm not saying bicycles should not be on the road, but people who ride bicycles on the road are dumb as shite.
I try to limit the instances where I could become a speedbump by some distracted driver. Hell there are times I wish I drove something bigger than my truck.

Because these types are chatting or out for a "social" ride. I shake my head at cyclists riding 2 and 3 wide like this, and I am a cyclist.
The faster group rides that I've done (which pros and Cat 1/2 racers have jumped into) have pace lines and are pretty tighty controlled. Anyone who rides sketchy is asked to leave the group.
These days I mostly ride solo, at low-traffic times on low-traffic streets. Or better yet, on the mountain bike trails every chance I get.

Bunsbert, good to hear honesty regarding cyclists. Yeah, I agree with the social ride thing.
If I'm not mistaken, the pros do some team rides where there is a set pace, exchange the lead, to maintain pace, if not to protect their leader kinda thing. But if truly training or serious about fitness, then why not focus on the training pace goal and not make it a social bs thing? Go have a beer after to socialize...
