Every parish/county (except for big cities, they obviously need their own department) should get rid of city/town police departments.. A percentage of every city/town/village budget goes to the police department, if... lets say 75% of the police budget went into the Sheriffs department, they could use that to hire one or two sheriffs officers.

Sheriffs officers are usually better trained than the small town police (better trained, that doesn't mean highly trained... These city police departments don't pay much so they don't have the brightest people enforcing the law. Generally. Sometimes there might be a retired officer who will work for them part time or whatever.. these are one of those things that continue as is just because "thats how it has always been done".

Won’t happen most small towns in south LA use police departments to increase revenue….hell in some towns it rivals sales tax revenue.

Yeah the only way it would happen is if it became a federal or state law, which isn't happening, but if I were a mayor or parish president and I was in my last or only term, I would try to get it done, but yeah, trying to get rid of an elected seat (police chief) would have a lot of push back, especially from the ones who were elected into that position.
