You will be fine. They will hug the coast on a SE heading till they can get behind the storm.

At this point I really wouldn't mind going to the Keys. I cannot imagine anything in Mexico will be that nice.
You'll have to port in another country. Can't just go from Texas to the Keys and back.

Have you watched the Perfect Storm?

Two things:
1. They can’t just go out and not stop somewhere and come back. I don’t believe that is allowed unless there is some kind of emergency.
2. They also can’t just go to the Keys. The same weird law says the cruise ship MUST stop at at least one foreign port. So you would have to make it to the Bahamas if you took the Keys route. From Galveston that would be a decent trek and probably require a 7 day cruise.

You'll be fine. Cruise will go around the storm. Unless it's Carnival,

Went on that trip last year out of Galveston.
It's royal Caribbean, so not much trash at all.
Stray fists aren't a threat.

I’d suggest not getting in the water for sure. There be sharks
Posted on 7/5/24 at 12:34 pm to Texastiger43
Would not want to be on it right now.

Um is that ship steaming directly into the cane? WTF?

No you aren’t.

Roatan might be an alternative port if the dock is not full.

Not to worry. Cruise ships have plenty of warning before a hurricane and can adjust the itinerary if necessary. Water may be rough but the ships are equipped with stabilizers which help a lot. Pack some Dramamine if you are prone to motion sickness.

Don’t listen to the hating knobs on here. Was on Mariner last month. Great boat and staff. I would guess you all will leave and go basically due east and then loop back. I would say much more likely to get into Cozumel than Costa Maya…we got off in Costa Maya and back on within 45 minutes. It still sucks. Go to Mandy’s in Cozumel. In the little shopping area at the pier. Slamming food and margaritas.

I've been on a Carnival cruise out of Galveston. I'll stick with Celebrity and Holland America. We were told it is better to board there than N.O., I can understand that.
