The Texarkana murders: they're the basis for the films "The Town That Dreaded Sundown"

Also the more recent Smiley Face murders

I thought they solved that in the movie "Up the Creek"! DB was Burt Reynolds.
That was Without a Paddle. Up The Creek was a legendary 80's movie about white water raft races, beer and boobs.

Back when movies still had a pair.

The Elisa Lam incident happened at The Hotel Cecil in LA.

That's the hotel that this season of "American Horror Story" is based on.

I wonder if they will do a storyline based on her fate.

hen I was young, I went to a camp for a month each summer to a camp in North Carolina. I went on a week long hiking trip along the Appalachian trail and we would stay at predetermined wooden shelters along the trail. On the third day, deep in the woods, we arrived at the shelter to find a strange group already there.at the time, I had never seen so many guns and tactical equipment in my life. I was young enough to not realize it was weird until I could tell our two counsellors were freaked the frick out. There were 4 or 5 filthy people in the hut that didn't say a word but just stared at us as we walked up and immediately were told to turn around by the counsellors. I remember one of the conselors telling the other that he swore it was that guy wanted for bombing the Olympics. Months later, in2003, Eric Rudolph was arrested in North Carolina for murder and terrorism. Part of his plea agreement, which I learned years later, was leading police to over 200 pounds of dynamite he had hidden in the forests.

Why would he be chilling at a fricking shelter on the AT? That would be the last place to hide out.

This is definitely a contender. How could an entire town let that witch hunt happen?
