Mine was 828 a few months ago.
I closed a CC account, bought a Jeep for cash, and opened a commercial fuel account.
Checked it b/c of this thread and its like 760.
No debt at all for 15+ years...
Scam, for the most part...

760 is great credit pretty much everywhere but this thread. Closing a CC account is probably what hurt you.

Credit score without how much credit you have is meaningless. I used to write credit policies and an 800 is great but if you have 5k revolving I’m not approving nothing

I don't have one, nor a FICO score. Don't need one.
Been on a cash basis for the past 18 years.

822 for my immigrant brown Latino arse

I don't really care but I know it's in the excellent range.
What's important to me is my kids' credit scores when they turn 18. So far we only have one that is 19 but he had about a 790 on his 18th birthday. He's already financed a used car and pays his own insurance all in for just under $500/month. Pretty proud of him.

Yeah, agree.
No one's getting a better interest rate at 760 vs 820.

844 on Citi which uses Equifax.
829 on Barclays that uses Transunuion.
Over 40k credit between the two of them.
I pay my credit card bills monthly with no balance and have only a mortgage of outstanding dept.

Bc its all horseshite now.
Waaaaaay too many people had excellent credit so it became increaseingly difficult for lenders to get even slightly higher interest rates from borrowers.
Credit agencies conspired to "reevaluate " how they scored individuals. Now, any action, even positive ones, will result in a lowered score.
Now, of course, you can purchase products, from them, to "raise" your score.
This is very similar to the Dun & Bradstreet scam where they extorted small business owners with fake "bad credit" info to sell them products to erase those bad credit "occurrences". D&B, in AZ, was creating the fake reports.
Those cocksuckers tried to do shite that to us.
That's next for the consumer.
ETA: spelling, and to say D&B sucks

Mine was in the 800s and I took a huge hit when I paid off my student loans that never recovered. I was at 790 at the end of August, now its 766 and the only change was my total debt went up by $1,000. Its just my credit card I pay off every single month.
Other than that I just have a mortgage. I fear I need to take on more debt to get back over 800 and I just don't want to so...

I might not be perfect, but I never beat anyone out a frickkng nickel.
Got in the WSJ for that...

766 is fine.
Most every loan you get is secured by collateral anyway...
Unless you're financing 110% of value, you'll get excellent rates at 766.
ETA apologize for the language in previous post.

850. Pay on time and very little debt. Not that it matters. It’s a scam.
