Oh there was no threat. I got my as handed to me a few times. One time I tried to fight back, and got a roundhouse to the chest that sent me head first into a metal staircase and I had to get 13 stitches on my forehead.

Another time I fought back, I had my entire right arm turn purple.

It was a bruise from the shoulder to the wrist.

Never a belt either. I would get hit, sometimes closed fist.

Jesus christ dude are you alright?

My parents told me if I tried to wait up for Santa and he saw me trying to catch him putting presents under the tree, Santa would kick ash from the fireplace into my face.

I didn't wait up for him.

"If you don't stop that, we're going to send you to a Baton Rouge public school!"

BR public schools for my neighborhood were Belaire or Glen Oaks

fine. Made me tough.

Probably the reason I road rage so hard now. But I am usually calm with people even when pissed.

Sounds like my house. My dad was a WWII vet and a no nonsense type. I caught the back of his hand quite a few times, a few times a belt, and once when I was older and smarted off a closed fist. Knocked me down in one lick. My grandmother used to play pick me a switch and liked the little ones that would sort of whip. My mom would threaten to tell my Dad. That usually worked. I used to tell my kids to go get my belt. That used to work pretty well and only had to use it once or twice.

My parents were pretty basic on punishments.

"Don't make dad take of his belt and beat you" (followed through on that one often)

"I'll send you and your brother to seperate military schools" (never followed through)

My mom did drive me to the police station once when she thought I was lying to her about taking something (I wasn't lying)

My pops could get the belt off and have it in full swing faster than Raylan Givens can draw his pistol.

My parents always told me that I had an older brother who they had turned into a mannequin because he wouldn't act right. So with a threatened to do the same with me if I didn't straighten up.

They also threatened to take me down to the children's home and leave me there, and they partially followed through with this. My dad drove me to the children's home, and we sat in the truck and had a long talk. I was crying harder than ever.

I don't know, either I was a good kid and my parents never beat me, or I mentally blocked out the brutal punishments, because I don't remember ever being attacked by an adult due to my behavior.

My dad didn't have to do anything but verbally correct me once. But I believe my mother had some kind of special training that was passed from one generation to the next in the art of switching butt. She would usually finish the thrashing by stating that if it didn't work, she would send me to "reform school". When I once ask what that was, she said, "prison for children that need to learn how to behave".

"...and I will instruct them to list every bad thing you do on your permanent record, using indelible ink!". That's how I learned what "indelible" meant.

Ummm...that's not discipline. Those are clear examples of child abuse.

My cousin and I went frogging with my grandpa and uncle once when I was about 10. Of course, we were horsing around in the back of the boat and my grandpa had enough. He told us he was going to leave us out there and the "wampus cat" was going to get us. All night while we were slowly trolling along he would slap the water while we weren't looking and tell us it was the wampus cat. We were 2 little angels for the rest of the night.
