I've heard the oral appliances are much better than a cpap.

I used that one for 5 days and was fricking miserable. Went back today and they gave me a different one. I thrash in my sleep, and evidently I breathe through my mouth too much.

you heard wrong. an oral appliance isn't going to be pushing positive air pressure into your lungs or detect and resolve apnea events during the night.

about the only thing an oral appliance may help with is to reduce snoring.
