Sure...this is bad.

But what if they were...say...teenagers?

And wanted to fight each other?

In a ring made of tiki torches in the woods on a camping trip?

Purely hypothetical of course

An employee of mine recently got two foster kids that are 20 months and 8 months old. The parents had them locked in an uninsulated shed with nothing but a wood floor and no windows.

The fricked up thing is the courts are still trying to give the bio-parents a shot at getting the kids back. Like, wtf? Lock the parents in the shed and walk away.

As an adoptive parent, I can tell you that the foster/foster-to-adopt system is broken. The social workers have their heart in the right place and they work ungodly hours but there is nothing they can do.

That is why we ultimately went with a private agency.

…are accused of locking a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old in a chicken pen and using BB guns to shoot at them.

…Charges against Hayford and Menees include kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, abuse or neglect of a child and domestic assault.

The sheriff’s office said that evidence suggested a pattern of ongoing abuse, including the couple holding organized “fight nights” at a child’s birthday party, where the children were forced to fight one another.

Were the kids not their biological or adopted kids? And did the fight nights involve bringing over other kids? If other kids involved with birthday party fights I would assume other parents had to be involved or knew about it.

Also, at the link I saw a different story on 6 murders in Mississippi that I had not read about before:
quote:

A 24-year-old Mississippi man killed six people — his father, brother, uncle, 7-year-old cousin, a church pastor and the pastor’s brother — at three locations during a Friday night rampage in a rural area, authorities said.

Daricka M. Moore was arrested at a police roadblock in Cedarbluff just before midnight…

Investigators believe Moore first killed his father, 67-year-old Glenn Moore, his brother, 33-year-old Quinton Moore and his uncle, 55-year-old Willie Ed Guines, at the family’s mobile home on a dirt road in western Clay County.

The sheriff said Moore then stole his brother’s truck and drove a few miles to a cousin’s house, where he forced his way in and attempted to commit sexual battery. Scott said Moore than put a gun to the head of a 7-year-old girl, whom he declined to identify, and fatally shot her.

…Moore then placed a gun against a younger child’s head, but she was not shot. It was not clear whether he did not pull the trigger or the gun misfired. The mother and a third child were also present, the sheriff said.

Moore then allegedly drove to a small white frame church, the Apostolic Church of The Lord Jesus. There, Scott said, he broke into a residence, killed the pastor and his brother and stole one of their vehicles.

The system is so incredibly messed up. I've heard so many stories that blow my mind. The Sword and Scale episode on this story is sooooo fkd, and really opens one eyes to how insane the system really is.

Washington County, MO is actually backwoods as shite for being fairly close to St Louis. My dad worked for the Mark Twain National Forest and would have to go survey forest timber around Potosi.

Elephant Rocks is there as well and is a cool place.

Rural Missouri is great, but you need a good bit of land to have lebensraum from the meth heads.
