No. That's a false equivalency. Most Bible Thumpers still think we live in the land of the free and what you do in your bedroom is your business. They know its going on regardless. It's not anywhere near on the same level as it is in the Middle East.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi are extremely nice cities. That's why they have huge tourism from non muslims even with dumb shite like this. Parents lived in Dubai for over a decade, it's a pretty interesting place, just like backwoods Bama.

You might be saying this as a joke, but there are people (especially baptist, pentecostals, etc from the South) who are absolutely against the idea of someone getting knocked up out of wedlock and would support some type of punishment for those who do.. But at the very least, they will believe god will punish that person and would see anything bad that would happen to that person as them being punished.

I think that these people are comfortable with the fact that God will take care of them eventually. Sure they'd outlaw abortion and take the pill away, but I doubt they'd execute anyone like they do in the Middle East.
Evangelicals deep down think people can be redeemed for even the worst of actions. If you insult the prophet or leave the faith, then in the Middle East you'd be killed for it. Most evangelicals want to persuade you by saying how loving Jesus is. Islamists on the other hand want you killed for directly insulting the faith.
It's apples and oranges.
