quote:

The pit bull, Bully, got out of his yard and charged at Mixon Smith as she was gardening on March 6, 2017. She said the dog latched onto her arm and never let go until it was ripped off just under the elbow. The right side of her face was torn from the eyebrow to her chin.

handing four years in prison to him and 10 years probation to her.

From the owner:
quote:

McCloud’s attorney had asked him what the jury should know while they determined his sentence. McCloud spoke about his military service and volunteer work. “I’m originally from Detroit, I am from the hood, I’ve been blown up for my country,” he said. “I am not a criminal. I don’t appreciate social media and the news, everyone making me seem like a bad guy.”

quote:

“The arrogance of the defendants is mind-boggling,” Contreras said. “Today, they defended a breed that ripped a woman’s arm off in front of their son!”

I was going to post this article earlier but I've exceeded my allotment of starting pit bull threads for the month

Too light of sentences, if you ask me.

Damn mind boggling they are going to jail because the dog hopped the fence.

quote:

Before the jury began to hear closings arguments in the punishment phase of the trial, state District Judge Joey Contreras raised the McClouds’ bonds to $250,000 each because a District Attorney’s Office investigator that morning photographed two other pit bulls in the yard at their current residence, a violation of a court order.

In July, state District Judge Steven Hilbig, who previously presided over the case, had ordered the pair to remove all dogs from their home next door to Mixon Smith. Then, the couple moved. Contreras angrily admonished the couple, saying that just because they moved didn’t mean they could get more dogs.

So their response to their pit nearly killing an elderly woman is to just move and get more pits.

They deserve the sentence. Their actions show no remorse at what happened to that poor woman. That their own 10 year old son witnessed and tried to stop.

Just euthanize them. The owners, not the dog. Well, the dog too.

Looks like some fine, upstanding citizens. Very similar to your average pit owner in Boulder.

For real though me thinks those were fighting dogs. Not predisposed to violence and fighting, but taught to kill

Exactly. It's POS like this that give my lovely pits a bad name.

fricking dumbass owners. Wish they'd both get 10 years in jail.

We are in this together, bro

If you don't ever hang around r/pitbulls on reddit then you should. It's refreshing compared to what you get here , and those dogs with good owners aren't going to make the news as we both already know
