I know plenty of dumb arse people with dogs. However none of their dogs maul and kill people.

Nope, can't show the good news stories on here, it doesn't fit the narrative. There's so many thousands of good pits out there, but most idiots on here think they're all killers just because they're pitbulls.
I was surprised they showed one on the local news (wafb) here a few days ago. It was about a rescue pit who became a service dog and trained for a specific service, but actually ended up saving its owner's life by another service they didn't know it could do. I'll have to see if I can find it for you.

I understand the sentence is due to the damage inflicted. Root cause of it all though is the dog got over the fence...or evil pitbull, one or the other.
Regardless though, 4 years in prison because your dog hopped the fence and did something is relatively shocking to me.

If it's the owners fault that pit bulls maul and kill babies and senior citizens..then why dont they euthanize the owners instead of the dogs? I mean if the dog was just being a dog then why kill it? It;s the owners fault right? Let kill all the owners that let their dogs kill people.

Under those circumstances a Pit will likely never attack anyone but you can't deny it's in their DNA and its still very possible could happen. I can train my Golden not to retrieve but that doesn't change what's in its DNA.

That's interesting. That describes some roomates ( a couple )I had years back. They had 1 dog when I lived with them. The dog was well behaved and well trained. After I moved out, they adopted a pit puppy. They gave it plenty of love and did all they could to socialize it, even with already having another dog in the house. But the one time it pulled the leash through its owners hands, it went after another dog with its owner nearby (taking him out to piss) and latched onto the poor dogs throat, nearly killing it. They still kept the dog after that, naively thinking they could control it with the criteria you provided...love it, train it (professionally), keep socializing it. It didn't work. It eventually ate their cat, and they had to put him down.
Your criteria isn't sound. These things still happen with "good owners" as you define them. It seems to me like people like you want to label others as "bad owners" after something bad happens, because they MUST have just not loved that damn dog enough, right?

You weren't there for the upbringing and have no idea what could have gone wrong or how the dog was raised. I would have to personally experience something similar and know the people and situation well enough to believe it. What I consider a good, compassionate, loving human is probably a lot different than your definition in the dirty south surrounded by ignorance and hate. I got my dog at 6 weeks old. There is no way I could raise a dog capable of doing harm. He, and his half pug/half eskimo brother, were raised around people young to old, animals small to large, with regular trips to dog parks. They sleep in the bed every night and eat food and treats from PC's Pantry that are higher quality than the food most people on this board eat. They have freely roamed many places across the US and canada most people are not fortunate enough to see in a lifetime. A lot of times dogs take on the personality of their owners, and mine loves life and the other living organisms we share this beautiful planet with just like his papa
