2020s bro country = the boy bands of the 90s
All generic over produced hand selected “music” and “musicians” with the same style, sound, and showmanship

I never knew how much I hated country until I went to a Tracy Lawrence concert friday night for my girlfriends birthday. It was the hokiest thing ive ever seen in my life. Im not totally opposed to country. I like the music by guys that have passed away.
But this shite...sprinkle in some "Proud to be an American", "God bless the veterans", and a litany of catchy country phrases...it almost felt like they were making fun of their own audience. And then he and his headliners all tried to tell us that Bud Light is ok. Like why? Do you know your audience? Why even talk about Bud Light?
The last concert I went to before this was Tool. All I could do for 3 hours was compare this to that show.

Tracy Lawrence has some pretty solid tunes in his catalog. I wouldn’t lump him in with Bro country.

Throwing a beer on the ground is outrageous? Do you write for tmz? Are you a 12 year old girl?

that could easily be lost on me. I never listened to any newer country.

He looks like a country wannabe.

Definitely not bro country- he’s 80’s-90’s through and through. I’ve never seen him in concert, but I can’t imagine that he’s anything other than an old country boy in concert.

Brantley Gilbert sucks. I was invited by some friends to a Kid Rock concert in Irvine, CA in 2018 and Brantley opened for him. I wanted to slit my wrist listening to Brantley's set.
There's a lot to unpack here.

That’s definitely on brand for someone named “Brantley”.

That dude is a "country music star"?
I bet he doesn't even own a pair of wranglers.

Went to a bar Austin yesterday.
Bud light tall boys were $3, every other beer on the menu was $5 (lone star, coors, miller) or $6.25 for Shiner and non domestics.
Still saw very few blue bud light cans around.

Is Brantly Gilbert really part of Bro country?
Posted on 7/16/23 at 2:09 pm to LegendInMyMind
Brantley Gilbert makes music for dudes who punch holes in sheet rock.
