How many of these things would be getting publicity if not for the greedy actions of board members?

The COA may have survived the sketchy will, a bad audit, or violating residency restrictions on their own but all of them hitting in short order sure makes it easier for an outside authority like the AG to demand a housecleaning.

Seems to be SOP for a lot of non-governmental organizations like this. This group just is more arrogant, stupider, or both than the average one.

A forensic accountant hired by the Office of Disciplinary Counsel reviewed Dumas’ trust account and testified during hearings that Dumas had paid himself $14,550 from the trust account.

The ruling says Dumas would withdraw large sums from the account by writing checks to himself or by presenting counter checks made payable to cash. Those transactions lacked any explanations or identifying purposes for the payments.

“There was no way to know on any given day whether money in the account belonged to (Dumas) or to his clients,” the ruling describes the forensic account’s testimony, “and she had no confidence in (Dumas’) ability to make that determination either.”

How in the actual frick could almost an ENTIRE organization be this shady.

Some members of a certain community allow them to and then circle the wagon against wrongdoing because..... black.

They'd take a crook over an honest man any day as long as the skin color matched theirs. And somehow WE'RE the racist.

I get what you're saying.

What I mean, though, is that these higher ups had to at least "appear" qualified for the position they are in. It is amazing that there are this many "lawyers" with at least somewhat of the proper qualifications, that are also dirtier than pigs in shite.

Sure corruption and the like are going to happen. But clearly with this many possible instances of violations it screams that the organization itself was providing an environment where this shite didn't even need to be hidden. Instead it seemed like it was encouraged.

Tl;Dr Holy shite I think I just described Louisiana's? whole political environment

Here is their whole roster from la.gov: LINK

As I haven't lived in BR for about a decade, I'm not familiar with any of the names. So I'm just randomly googling them to see what pops up.

I googled Donna Collins-Lewis and the 5th link down (I didn't actually click on it) is a post from 9/18/15 on The Rouge Collection titled "Why as a Black Male I Would Not Vote for Donna Collins-Lewis."

the only reason y'all are even paying attention to any of this is because y'all are nervous about black people being in charge of tax payer money.

Brandon Dumas, the head of the East Baton Rouge Council on Aging board, will leave the embattled agency when his term as chairman expires on May 18, the COA announced today. A COA news release says Dumas also will not serve out his final year on the board, which was set to end in May of 2018. Dumas is stepping down in anticipation of a residency change, the COA says, adding that the resignation is in accordance with agency’s bylaws. “Dr. Dumas and his family own several parcels of land and two residential properties in Ascension Parish, the most recent of which was purchased in November 2016,” the agency’s news release says. “The Dumas family has decided to relocate from East Baton Rouge Parish to Ascension Parish and is currently in the process of relocation.”
