You guys came out here to see the game but could you live in vegas? I’ve been for a few years. Just curious

Honestly, not long term. It's a World class city and fun to visit, but it's in a desert. I like trees, lakes, beaches, and the people that come with it. Vegas feels like all it wants to do is shake me down and spit me out.

Seems pretty trashy. So maybe.

I had never been before and when I stepped on to Fremont Street I immediately felt at home. I never wanted to leave.
I'm home now in Baton Rouge. But I want to find a fully remote IT job and a 200 sqft studio apartment off Fremont. I'm at that point in life.

I like the old Vegas strip too. Reminds me of my grandmas time and mobster era.

I could. I love the mountains in the background.
I would have to find my routine spots (grocery store, gym, church etc)
But I could. My S/O probably not.

Fremont people watching is top tier. That huge Ape dancing was absolutely hilarious

Do they get 4 seasons? If not then no. I have to live somewhere in NC, WV VA,TN that get it in the purest form.

The sunrise silhouette of the mountains is pretty nice. The routine spots are you mentioned are very conveniently spaced. I like that about this town too

Not really. Just hot as hell then mild then cold then mild. Repeat

I gave living in Dubai and Abu Dhabi a try last year. It was fun at times but I'm glad I'm not there anymore. I would think living in Vegas would be similar. So hard pass for me.

It is a grind to live there. The strip sucks and it is a sea of strip malls once you get away from there. The outdoor life is very good though

I’ve lived out here for the past 6 years now and like everywhere else, it is what you make it. Coming from Louisiana I was blown away by the physical landscape (i.e. looking out at mountains from right outside your front door) as well as the close proximity to all other various environments. It’s a 4 hour drive to L.A. and the beach, a 3 hour drive to skiing in Utah and a 4 hour drive to Sedona, AZ. Also, you’re no more than a 2 hour flight from anywhere in the Western continental United States. Since living out here, the only western state I haven’t been to is Idaho. When the sports footprint increased, that gave the city some legitimacy in my opinion. There’s also talk of a couple of movie companies opening studios here too. There’s been a real effort to diversify away from solely gaming. The city has been growing like crazy since I’ve lived here because for nine months out of the year, the weather is nice and it is still a relatively low cost of living (for now). Construction projects get done in record time and there’s no state income tax.
All that being said, it is still a transient town. It seems like anything over the 5 year mark qualifies as lifer status. It’s tough because you’ll make friends but then they’ll move across the country or back to where they’re from and you’re repeatedly having to start over socially. The school system leaves a lot to be desired and there are some things that are normalized here that probably shouldn’t be; for instance, slot machines in the neighborhood CVS.
I went into moving here with an open mind and it has treated me well so far. I met my wife and was able to get a house, so I certainly can’t complain. It’s definitely not a city for everyone but it offers way more than what the media/TV portrays.

Yeah but both so freaking expensive.. if ur gonna move out of Louisiana and do a ‘life reset’ or something, then it makes much more sense , IMO, to move to a place like Colombia or Panama or Vietnam or Malaysia or many others where you can live better AND way cheaper, in most cases, than in the USA .

If I were younger, yes. Seems like a good place for a 20 and 30 something.

So basically south Louisiana without the humidity, afternoon showers, and a threat from a hurricane. Barely rains, easiest job out there is a TV meteorologist. You just copy and paste the same forecast 90-95% of the time, sunny with a high around a 100 for the next 10 days,
