China isn't going after us. They're after Africa and their neighbors. Save for Trump spewing shite to the North Koreans, they like our relationship right where it is (although I think they'd prefer if we cut off more ties with the Japanese). So long as we continue to provide products and jobs to the Chinese, they don't really care what we do so long as we don't try to give them propaganda.
And there will be some new revolution in China within our lifetime, make no mistake about that. Mao and the one child policy makes it inevitable when people now in their 20s and 30s are caught with the bill supporting 8 people alone when they're in their 50s and 60s. That's why they're investing in Africa and really colonizing it European style because of fear of foot shortages causing such a revolution, among other things.

Why don't you go ask all of the young kids who have been fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan for the last 15 years?

I asked my Grandma that exact question about 10 years ago. Without hesitation she said no. That we're to self centered and impatient to sacrifice what they had to sacrifice for the war cause.
Well looks like granny is an idiot. Sorry about the bad genes baw.

Of course they could. Human beings are pretty damn resilient, put them in a life or death situation and they aren't going to behave any differently than the kids fighting in WWII

Could high schoolers during WWII have fought the Civil War? Or did they receive much better health care, food rations, shoes, or hell something as simple as antibiotics.
These threads are dumb. A dweeb that can't win an arm wrestling match against a 100 pound girl can design a drone that could unleash the fury of a plethora of WWII firepower.
When the standard of living goes up,as does the expectations of comfort.
ETA: I'm sure you're the type that rages on your ISP when service goes out temporarily, then continue to talk about how tough you are.

Yep, just a bunch of little snowflakes.

Yes
Not everyone is a “snowflake” like you think.

Only a handful I believe could do it.
Posted on 12/5/17 at 4:54 pm to dietcoke7
frick no, and I'm including everyone under 30.
The would believe that appeasing Nazi Germany would be the only way to achieving peace, all the way up until they were conquered.

Obviously otherwise we wouldn't have militaries and current wars. The technology would be different though.

The US currently has about 2.5 million active and reserve members of the military. That's out of 120 million considered fit to serve. LINK You don't need the average snowflake to join the army, just the 2% of the population with skill sets and mentalities that line up with military service.
If some larger conflict required drafting and putting snowflakes on the front lines I think a lot of them would harden rather than melt. Surviving is in our DNA.

My wife teaches 10th grade honors biology in a successful public high school. Today contacted by the parent of a straight A student who wants "accomodations" for her daughter, including extended time to take tests, modification of the tests, preferential seating, etc. This is due to a diagnosis of "High Anxiety".
A mental health professional made this diagnosis, not Mel Brooks.
This is not an isolated situation. The term snowflake is routinely used when discussing the younger generation but stuff like this makes me wonder what the future of this country looks like. China, among other potential problems is not likely to countenance this coddling of teen agers. Will my granddaughters children have to learn Chinese in school to compete and exist in a world it appears we are giving away by, in part, producing a wussified generation?
What you think?
So,your wife tells you what I would gather is confidential information (both educationally and medically) and you decide to come on the interwebs and use that to start an asinine thread?
I'm all for the school of hard knocks, Yada yadda yadda, but who am I to contradict a MENTAL HEALTH PROFESSIONAL?
Do you think a veteran today is soft because of the PTSD diagnosis they may receive? Guess you haven't heard of shell shock and what that really was (hint: PTSD).
So to wrap this up, I'm not sure who's more stupid. You or your wife for marrying you.

Yes, they could. And I'm getting pretty tired of the previous generations running down my generation and the generation after mine about shite like this. There are extremely patriotic Americans out there today that would take up arms in defense of their country and their freedom at the drop of a hat. The problem that y'all see with us is that most of the fricking shitheads in this generation have the loudest voices.
Lest we forget the fact that the Boomers were the ones who started the anti-American sentiments in this country? They were the ones that spat on Marines, soldiers, whatever the frick the Navy figs call themselves, and Airmen upon returning from Vietnam, they were the ones rioting in '68.
I'll end this rant with one of my most favorite scenes from True Detective.
Old men die, and the world keeps spinnin.

I'll answer your question with another question. Will the baby boomers ever shut the frick up about millenials?

And there's definitely more than that out there that just didn't join the military and chose a different route but if their country called upon them they would serve with honor.

Yup. Just like old people always thinks “SNL sucks now”. I remember by aunt fussing about SNL in the 90s when it was Ferrell, Farley, etc.
Anyway, I do believe it’s hard for modern people to understand just how tough our ancestors were, physically and mentally. It’s really a luxury that we can be so soft.
