I remember when Bon Marche Opened, long before their was a Cortana Mall.

People mobbed Bon Marche, there were so many people, they were as thick as trying to walk through a Mardi Gras parade. If was a biggly event of its Day

We would spend hours walking around Cortana, going to Spencer’s, spaceport, eating a mama bravas. That was a great mall to go to as a kid in the early 90s

You don’t fully realize how good those days were until you look at today’s times. Movies & music were original with authentic talented people.

My dad would bring me to mama bravas as a little kid and we’d eat pizza and he’d drink beer and give me enough money to buy 1 pack Pokémon cards at a time from Electronic boutique lol I ran back and forth for what seemed like hours until I got something good

Are you referring to when Bon Marche was closed in to become a mall or when it originally opened as a strip center? I was around for the mall remodel but not the original opening.

And don't forget about Corporate Mall in a race to open so it could be the "first" mall in Baton Rouge.

Bon Marche with the Piccadilly.

They had a swiss gravy steak on Fridays that was to die for and the cornbread sticks were perfect.

Also the airbrush place next to Mervyns. My girlfriend and I both got airbrushed license plates for our cars that had our names on them.

It's also human nature to remember things with fondness and to diminish the bad things.

I remember a lot of the great things about my ex-girlfriends but have to force myself to remember that they were batshit crazy too.

That sounds right. When y'all were talking about Mama Brava, my mind was taking me to that little food court right there and I just remembered that place. I can visualize the wicker baskets, pillows, candles, etc.

That Cortana Cinema was the best place to see a movie. They had a killer sound system and would crank it the frick up for the good movies. I remember seeing so many movies there: Poltergeist, The Road Warrior, Aliens, Temple of Doom, Gremlins, Spies Like Us, The Living Daylights, etc. It was so loud you'd actually feel the movie. Aliens was a trip.
