I never stole anything but we always went to that mall because it was less crowded.

I remember watching "Lord of Illusions" there at the theater in HS and we were smoking cigs and weed in the movie. I'd imagine that was near the end. Maybe 1994-1995'ish.

What was the name of the other popular store in Cortana other than Merry-Go-Round? Sold Girbaud's ZCavs, Skiz, etc...

Last movie I saw there was 'Tales From The Hood'.

The last movie I ever saw at the theater by LSU was Friday.

I hate to spinoff this thread, but since so many are bringing up the music stores at Cortana Mall, anyone else remember New Generation on Florida Blvd? Wasn’t it near Poncho’s?

It's not that old and I remember New Generation but what was the name of the music store on the other side from Blimpies in that strip mall on Florida? CD Warehouse maybe?

I worked there for about a year when I first came to LSU. MoL was already around, but Cortana wasn’t a complete shithole yet.

Bought my wife’s engagement ring at Lee Michael’s in Cortana. How times have changed.

That is separate and will stay open as long as Dillard's wants. Also, the cutoff upstairs at Dillard's was the filming location of The Toy.

My dads best friend was a 300lb+ plus black man that was head of security. My mom still talks about the looks she got when me and my sister, both blonde hair and blue eyed, would go running down the mall screaming, “Uncle Claude, Uncle Claude!!” Only to have these two pasty, skinny kids jump into this old fat black mans arms. (This was the late 80s)

I miss my Uncle Claude. May he Rest In Peace.

Cortana had a theater for awhile. I remember my dad taking me to see Gremlins there.
I worked at Sears from 92-96 and hit Piccadilly up on the regular. I remember it like it was yesterday. The dilly for $4.74. Catfish, fries , and tea.

Used to eat at that lunch counter often when I worked at Bon Marche. Damned solid hamburgers.

I did a pre-screening of Conan the Barbarian at Cortana Mall in the little movie theater they used to have there

This may have been answered but I don’t have time right now to read through 8 pages, but where was there a movie theater? I don’t remember this, but I was also in middle school when the real decline began so my memories of Cortana are not as clear as others.

It was where Mervyn's was built.
