Maybe we already have. You do know that most of the country isn't testing unless you show up to the hospital displaying major symptoms, correct?

Worldwide Flu deaths= 500,000
Worldwide Coronavirus deaths= 15,000
Not even close even on a bigger scale.
FLU>>>>Coronavirus

Well I have never seen this much panic over a virus in my 40 years on this earth so I will be on the side of caution. If it isn’t such a big deal maybe y’all should go lick some door handles and report back on how bad this thing is

Don't waste your time dude.
The guy legit thinks its "not a problem" that hospitals are totally f-ed already RN in NYC and soon to be LA.

What do you think will kill more people today- the flu or coronavirus?

There's a thread on here from a guy who tested positive on the virus. Here are some quotes from him:
quote:
I'm still kicking. In fact, there are no symptoms left. I'm not sure maybe some of you who are keeping track know but I think I'm at day 11 or 12. Sorry can't remember well.
Anyways all is good. Life is good. Damn what I wouldn't give just to watch an SEC football game even it was just A&M vs Missouri.
quote:
On my roughest day, it wasn't much. The day after, I was about 101 or 102. Then it would just kind of come and go but then no higher than 100.5 or something like that.
quote:
Odds are you don't have it but if you do, don't worry. For me it was definitely better than most of the colds I get. I can handle viruses but bacteria damn near kills me.
quote:
I actually feel bad about this. seriously. I hope no one is worried. Fear is our worst enemy.
Thread
Maybe it's time to curb some of that fear, no?

Do you know what a novel virus is?
Posted on 3/23/20 at 8:35 am to RB10
Really don't understand why ya'll can't simply comprehend the issues that this will cause at hospitals.
No one is under the presumption that people will be dropping dead in the streets.
The people that DO develop the bad symptoms have to be intubated for long periods of time and we have a serious shortage there.
The president has said as much. Pretty much all last week.
Again, would love to know if you think he's over reacting by sending Navy boats to LA and NYC and actioning the national guard.

Not having a pharmaceutical cure =/= having zero defenses for a virus.

I have 3 friends who's wives are ER nurses in the area. No problems so far.

You mean the major metropolitan areas that have hospitals get overrun by the flu in some seasons are also having problems with this virus?
I guess we should shut down the entire country every flu season, just in case.

If you seriously believe humans have zero defenses against this virus you need to be hit over the head with a tack hammer.

welp, I'm almost certain I have it. I've felt like shite for 2 days. It's a mild feeling but you definitely feel it, especially in terms of being sore and having a headache. I'm a 30 yr old in NOLA with no pre-existing conditions, I'm a healthy guy.
Out of 400 people at BR Midcity that they or a provider thought that they had it that did the drive through testing, 3 tested positive.
Over the entire state 10% of presumed positives are confirmed positive.

Yep. There's a 12 year old intubated in Atlanta.
Each and every day we are seeing different outcomes of this virus.
The point is WE DON'T KNOW. And if there were ever a time to be better safe than sorry, I think this is it.
The President's actions should be indicative.

Yep, we def. send the national guard and naval vessels to major metro areas ever year because of flu season.
You realize people that have studied their entire lives on these types of virus are making these calls right?
Yet you seem to know better? Legit want to ask WTF is wrong with you but I know its a waste of time.

Honestly, when people like you and the other idiot run around here spreading nonsense like humans have "no defenses for this virus", I become more and more disenchanted with the reaction.
It's absolutely ridiculous.

That's the biggest joke in this whole situation. Someone we know just tested positive after showing ZERO respiratory symptoms, but having digestive symptoms. Who knows how many people they've contacted while contagious. We're never going to get this shite under control without proper testing.

US Surgeon General Jerome Adams says this week is going to get “bad” bc people aren’t practicing social distancing. Way to be specific.

Where exactly did I say this?
It's a novel virus that has been around for 6 months. You truly think its a good idea to just say "frick it" lets see what happens? The fact that you're making "calls" about how to handle this is just pure bigotry.
The leader of the free world is being advised by some of the most educated people in the world and making these decisions.
Again, you really think they're all that misinformed and you're just on another level of logic on how to handle a mass pandemic in one of the largest countries in the world.

And they are wrong, routinely. The fatality rate was supposed to be near 4%. Where is it now?
