Many more tests have been run this week. Let's see what the numbers look like as the reports start coming in tomorrow. If the newer test results show continued increase in positive results, I think that you are correct, especially for New Orleans.

It’s literally what’s flattened the curve here in Kentucky compared to Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, etc.
Or course people here are legitimately adhering to it. And it probably helps that our Governor has updated daily and addressed it like he has some sense.

What has Kentucky done differently from Ohio? And how many tests has Kentucky given compared to Ohio? The commute between Northern Kentucky. Boone,Kenton, and Campbell into Cincy and the Commute from Cincinnati into Northern Kentucky is pretty substantial. Really curious as to what Kentucky imposed that Ohio did not and when?

I think we will try a round of this lockdown. The hospitals will get a breath of air then we will open things up and the cases will spike again. At that point I think people will say frick it. If you want to stay home do it but we are going back to work. I believe that will continue until the hospitals get overwhelmed and the stories start coming out of rationing of care. Where we go from there no one knows, hopefully by that time we have found a treatment.

I don't think Kentucky has done anything different. In fact, Ohio has consistently been pretty aggressive in their measures.
They have not been releasing the actual number of tests performed or the number of negatives so it is hard to read much into the numbers. One thing that has remained consistent has been that the number of hospitalizations has stayed around 20%-25% of the number of positives. There is obviously some bias in there, but it has at least hovered around that mark as the cases have climbed.

What numbers? The number of infected? That’s completely inaccurate. We have no idea how many infections there are.
The only thing that matters is how full the ICUs are and I think we are in very dangerous territory because the disease doesn’t get bad until 10-14 days later. So not knowing the real number of infections out there puts you at risk to get rushed and by the time you act it’s too late.
Just the way I see it.

That’s the just the US. You figure most of the flu season spans October- March (besides outliers) thats 5,700 deaths per month and we have 1 billion less people than China. Corona killed what 3300 over the last two months combined?

For the thousandth time way more than that got infected. And yes their strict quarantine worked...at least for now/
And there was an epicenter in China which makes it easier to contain. This is not the case in the US or other countries.

I’m not sure what you are trying to say. How many went to ICU? How many ventilated?
But let’s just get down to the point. Do you care if the ICUs become saturated and we can treat critical patients that need to be treated?
If you answer no that’s fine, I get that everyone has a different opinion. But that’s the only way your do nothing approach makes any logical sense.

There is no timeframe. It’s a rolling wave.
Even if you stopped all interaction immediately right now the amount of critical cases will continue to increase for probably 2 weeks because the newly diagnosed cases need time to progress to critical.
Not knowing how many infections are out there means that you don’t have a great idea of how big that wave is that’s coming. That’s why I think they will act more conservatively and probably start quarantine sooner than people think is appropriate. Just a guess.

Well wouldn't it be too late to do anything since we are already at least 7 days in, if not more?
There is at least a 7 day lag behind whatever we do.
