I’d be more interested to see the age range if those hospitalized

without more widespread testing that % means almost nothing.

The 45 days to peak is interesting though. Of course it is someone's educated guess and we will have to wait and see.

Let’s keep in mind it’s hard to estimate hospitalization percentage without accurate testing

Also hospitalization rate is not the problem. We can build field hospitals and put a large amount of people on oxygen.

Ventilators are key. I think Coumo is trying to oversell the situation so that less people get pissed about a lockdown. The possibility of unrest is high in a city with such population density.

BATON ROUGE, La. — The following is a transcription of Dr. O'Neal's comments at Governor Edwards' press conference Monday.

All of us will be affected by this pandemic. All of us, in every community, will feel the effects of the pandemic. Most of us will become infected over the next many months. Eighty percent of us will not feel the effects of the infections. Eighty percent of us will be asymptomatic and will feel well and will continue to go about our daily lives. We’ll go to the grocery store, play with our kids, many of us will go to work.

It’s almost assuredly skewed to the older, but that seems pretty irrelevant as that doesn’t change the strain on healthcare any

The numbers will freak you out. Hospitalization numbers skew way younger than deaths. I imagine hospitalization goes goes as young as 40-45 on the regular based on stats from the Europeans

The coronavirus hospitalization rate is 15-19% in New York State: Gov. Andrew Cuomo. This is a really high proportion, which is why everyone is so worried about the hospital bed & ventilator availability. Cuomo also said the NYS peak is expected to be in 45 days.

I wonder how they define the hospitalization rate. Is it everyone that is admitted to the hospital for testing? Those requiring an overnight stay and more intensive care?

If the former, hopefully mobile testing will relieve much of that. If the latter then they may be in trouble.

Yeah, hospitalization rate isn’t accurate when you are only testing sick people.

What does hospitalization mean though? Isn't the fear running out of ventilators and shite for the more severe cases? It's not as scary a number if these people are not severe cases.

Also inline with other US states, but as others have mentioned, it is meaningless without more testing. Ohio is currently at 14/50 hospitalized (28%) but when you are only testing the most serious, that percentage is going to be high.

Exactly. You don't want to get to a point where a decision has to be made to treat one person and ignore someone else.

A lot of places are making you be flu negative before allowing the corona test.

this can't be true. The projected numbers in 45 days would be beyond overwhelming!
