76 deaths on 1493 cases in Hubei. 4 death on more than 1000 cases everywhere else. Hmm.

I have an acquaintance that lives in Shanghai. He just shared this and noted that it was just announced that education companies were cancelling all services through the end of February

The whole city is “ a ghost town” and the pic behind him is filled with people, lol. Gives you an appreciation for how crowded their streets are normally.

Had an exchange student from Beijing live with me for 6 months during my graduate work

He was here during Mardi Gras

Told me "Every day in China is crowded like Mardi Gras"... it didn't bother him one bit

Copied from r/china_flu:

Chinese data on destinations of 5million who left before lockdown. QQnews, 1-26-2020

By train, millions left (article says this is normal for CNY).
60-70% of those who left Wuhan went to somewhere inside Hubei province.
Significant number of people went to Shanghai, Beijing, Chongqing, Changsha, (each less than 10% it seems) etc.
?
By air:
Over 60k flew to Beijing
50k flew to Guangzhou and Chengdu
7k to HK
6k to Macau
7.5k to Taiwan.

Other intl destinations include:

10k to Thailand
10k to Singapore
a bunch of them to japan.
3.6k to SFO
3k to Istanbul
2.7k to JFK

I wonder if the severe air pollution in China is only making the breathing difficulties caused by the virus worse.

I would have to think years of breathing really unhealthy air does a number on your lungs, especially as you get older.

Wuhan air quality forecast

The Mayor said travel data indicates approximately 1.5 million left the country. Didn't give any break down of timeframe or destinations.

The kids were 7 and 10 years old.
This graph doesn’t show one of the most important findings of this report. The ten year old showed no symptoms but the doctors did a scan because the parents were “nervous” and the kid showed lung involvement. Blood test showed the kid was carrying the virus. The younger kid did not catch the virus because they were complaint with the mother’s demand to wear a face mask.
A rather unexpected finding from the lung CT scan of patient 5,which was done on the insistence by the nervous parents also showed ground-glass pneumonic changes. Patient 5 was later confirmed virologically to have an asymptomatic infection. Although asymptomatic patients with SARS were uncommon, they were documented in our retrospective study in the minor 2004 SARS outbreak after reopening of the wildlife market in Guangzhou.17 Notably, patients 3 and 4 were afebrile at presentation to our hospital. These cryptic cases of walking pneumonia might serve as a possible source to propagate the outbreakFurther studies on the epidemiological significance of these asymptomatic cases are warranted.

I don’t read Chinese but asked the poster in r/cf to provide where this data came from.

So they developed fevers 3-6 days after exposure? That sounds better than the week or two before symptoms from some places I've read.

I don't get why our government, who at every facet of our life wants to control us, knows what's best for us, etc., is sitting on its dick with stuff like this. Are they afraid people will get pissed if they shut down travel here?

Nah, let's just let over 2k of these people come into one of the most heavily populated cities in America and disappear into the unknown.

Yup. But our culture puts value of shiny entertainers/celebs over these people. Sad...

This is the most truthful thing shared on this thread. Well, and anything dealing with Honkus.

Thanks for the lol!
