Wouldn’t put it past a country that flooded a dozen cities, hundreds of towns, and a thousand villages for electric power grids.

In that case they failed miserably. China has about 100million over the age of 60. They need to try harder?

Slowburn. The incinerators can only handle so much capacity.

Well apparently its been making the rounds in Washington for 6 weeks

That is based on comments from an associate professor in Washington. He based his speculation on the genomic epidemiology posted on Nextstrain - LINK yesterday. While that is on possible outcome based on the data, as of now, there doesn't appear to be any evidence of sustained community spread for 6 weeks. That would probably put Washington in the same category as northern Italy. It will take a lot more data and some actual research to confirm that hot take. Anecdotally, we should probably be seeing a lot more people showing up in ERs with symptoms (maybe we are but I haven't seen anything to suggest that is the case) or seeing cases show up elsewhere that are connected to the Washington cases. The nursing home is a very unfortunate event but it doesn't prove that there is a widespread outbreak in Washington.

There is an unprecedented flow of data and research coming out on this virus. People need to be careful at jumping on hot takes, esp. those that paint worst case scenarios. We are in the early stages of this in the US and there are still less than 100 confirmed cases.

Florida for obvious reasons will be particularly hit hard

Still more confirmed negative test than positive test in FL.

quote:

- 2 presumptive positive for #COVID19
- 8 pending test results
- 15 negative results
- 184 being monitors for risk of having been exposed to the virus.
- 3 state labs testing for the virus: Jax, Tampa, Miami

I wonder if we will see states impose full service gasoline in the next couple of months to limit the spread of the virus.

New Jersey only has full service gas. Much cheaper than PA, so I usually fill up there anyway.

That guy is literally pulling the "Euro shows a Cat 5 into New Orleans in 10 days!"

Could it happen? Yea. Is it likely? No

Yep. They flooded towns with such exotic names as: Easonville, Benson, Susannah, and Bainbridge. Doing so displaced thousands of families, saw the destruction of farmlands, the dismantling or relocation of homes, businesses, and sometimes (not always) cemeteries. It took away what little poor sharecroppers had. It forever changed the landscape that multipe generations called home. All of this was done across large areas along multiple rivers, creeks, and streams. All of this was done for the betterment of an entire region, an entire country in the midst of some of the worst, and later, best times it had known.

I know what you are saying. But, it is nothing new in regards to growing industrial countries. Decisions are made for the greater good, and one man's progress is another's undoing, or new beginning in many cases.

Dead cat bounce. This is based on China adjusting interest rates and printing money. That does nothing to fix the short term supply chain issues.

I could be wrong tho that's just the reports I'm seeing.
