Have they stated why they are still classifying this as low risk to Americans?

Because not everyone's going to catch it and it's got a >95% survival rate if you do?

Do you really need the government to tell you things that are common sense?

Perhaps you missed the guy trying to infect his daughter on national TV yesterday? I would argue that he is representative of the vast majority of the populace.

Hoping you make the trip. It’s been awhile since we met up.

Best wishes for your health!

That'll definitely go a long way to being more prepared .

I said I believe our system is one of the best for handling this and capacity is a huge part of that. We arent particularly good at preventing diseases in the country but we’re very good at treating sick patients.

That makes sense. Just wish they would be more transparent in every sense. Hell, they were transparent enough to urge avoiding travel to impacted Italy and SK areas.

What that statement is though is akin to someone judging the stock market and saying “some time in the future, the market will fall”. My prediction is that somewhere between 0 and 7 billion deaths will occur...and I’m already right.

Come on scruffy. You are better than that.

I don’t disagree. Unfortunately, viruses are indiscriminate. We can only hope that those who practice good hygiene and basic common sense with regard to health will be less likely to contract this. But alas, I’m surrounded by idiots.

And what evidence do we have that we are not taking the appropriate steps? I mean, some pretty sharp folks are on the case.

Go back and see what’s been posted about the CDC testing so far. It will be more obvious soon when the number of cases increases rapidly.

This one like it some old people or people with serious pre-existing coeditions or both from the looks of it.

Hopefully your not in an old folks home in Washington State.

I work in some affected hospitals in California, we are not prepared. There is a disconnect between administrative/government officials and what is actually happening on the units and in the EDs that are in these communities. I’m not saying this is apocalyptic but hospitals are not nearly as well run as the general public thinks.

This is what people that are just looking at data don’t understand. The people on the ground do.

The Fox News ticker is even calling some of the cases “presumptive positive”. The lack of testing is a joke. I’d be shocked if US cases haven’t already exceeded 1000.

95% sounds good but we are playing black jack here, that’s 5,000 out of every 100k

I would be shocked if it wasn’t already rolling in every state. Given what we know about the incubation period and the fact we weren’t even screening people coming through airports from affected areas in the beginning......this thing is already far more widespread than what the news is saying. They know nothing. These “community spread” cases popping up now have likely been walking around spreading it for a long time and got it from others they don’t even know who were exposed to or were travelers themselves.

It will be 99%+ survival rate

The number of cases will always be greatly underestimated

But deaths are easier to count

Is the person 19 years old or 50 who passed away?

Very odd the disparity

Which is well over double the actual numbers to date and you're ignoring the fact that the elderly is by far the most at risk and is the age group that is inflating the death numbers.

Or do you just like screaming bloody murder just to do it?

Doctors have been casualties of deadly diseases before. How many doctors have died combating Ebola in Africa? When you work around the sick your chances of getting sick go up exponentially.

It's not that uncommon to see doctors among the dead.
