About 10,000 in the US have died from the flu since 10/1.
Just looked up some stuff on this. 80% of children who died didn't have their flu shot.
65% are elderly.
Also, how many people close to you know someone who died of flu? I assume most flu cases are elderly in care. Plus people are dramatic and go to the hospital for everything so I assume that's why theres a lot of documented causes.

I don't believe he has any insider information about China's "real" numbers. You don't go throwing around the BSL4 lab and saying "just to note" if it's classified information. Like I said earlier, the guy seems to be more up to date than most, but I believe alot of his comments are just speculative.
Maybe, maybe not. You’d have to believe our intelligence agencies are continually monitoring Chinese communications. They are certainly spying on us. Unlike any of us he can pick up the phone and talk to top intelligence officials anytime he wants.
Also don’t think he needs to stir up crap to get re-elected in Arkansas.

I think people met nervous bc corona virus it is new and the rate of spreading it’s doing. Sure corona has lower death toll than flu. But people are afraid of something down the road.

I’m sure he’s getting top secret briefings. As a member of the integance committee I’m sure he’s getting breifings on things going on inside of China. I assume that why he’s saying they aren’t being honest. I would also assume that’s he’s hearing concerns about the origin of this virus.
That’s a really stupid explaination because if true, it means playing coy with the media reveals that we have a source in place to gain high level health related intel....and that MSS should watch very closely in that subsection

Oh so...reveal Ways and Means without even a lame excuse like political gain
So he’s an idiot.

I don't think it's that. Think it's just easy to throw stuff at the wall and forget you're a US senator at times. Not many people are going to defend China, so it's an easy target.
Even I'm not even defending China. Saying you believe the numbers as they come out isn't a defense.

That’s interesting.
And more evidence, Lam is a moron....
quote:
There are large number of Hong Kong residents who are now traveling in the mainland and abroad and they need to come back," Lam said. "So I don't think it's meaningful to talk about a complete closure of the border control points."
The border will obviously have to be patrolled, so why not allow those that are citizens to re-enter Hong Kong and bar those who are not.

If the more people get it, the more likely.

It’s the Philippines... Not exactly surprising or worrisome. It’s a third world country.

I don't blame them. There has already been a flood of mainlanders running to Hong Kong because they know it's their best chance for decent medical treatment, especially in the public hospitals.
One story that's flown under the radar is the fact that this medical union formed in December as a result of the coronavirus. In just a month, 18,000 nurses, doctors, and other medical staff joined because they see how thoroughly corrupt the government is.

And if 2019-nCoV had similar mortality rate as the flu then we would be looking at 7 - 14 deaths world wide at this point.

By the time we stop the movement of these people it will be too late. Then when it spreads everywhere slackster will say “see travel bans aren’t effective”.

At least they are trying to drive down the rampant illogical fear

This is a pretty damning piece of journalism about the Chinese government's lack of transparency and action at the beginning of the outbreak:
