Why?

It is important to point out the negative impacts of those pushing for shutdowns.

It’s fun now going back and reading this thread from early March on when I first popped in.

Me on 3/12:

quote:

Y’all want to save the most lives?

Take steps to protect the elderly. As far as the rest of us, there’s no reason we shouldn’t be able to go about things as usual taking steps we would normally take if we caught a virus. Stay home and chill till it’s over. Wash hands. Etc. that alone keeps this thing from killing hundreds of thousands which is apparently what every panicked bitch seems to think.

I undershot deaths by a good bit, but it is looking as if I am going to be correct on my predicted IFR.

If I remember correctly, I predicted 0.2-0.4%.

It will be fun looking back at previous posts once we get good info about IFR.

Going to be really interesting to see people’s reactions if the antibody testing is truthful... will be around .10% mortality rate without a vaccine...

I’m not talking about the fact you presented in the OP.

I didn’t think we’d be at 50k deaths by this point. But I knew we’d be way up on cases. Swine was the same way. First case in mid April. Million cases by end of June. That’s less than 3 months. We know we have missed millions of cases. The preliminary antibody studies have shown at least that. As far as the death count, based on what I’m hearing from people inside hospitals (Ochsner’s system), they are purposely counting non-covid deaths as covid deaths. For what purpose? Not sure. Might be a favor to the governor.

Ditto.

All we had to do was look at what happened on the Diamond Princess to see how this was going to play out. That ship told us exactly who the virus likes to attack, how contagious it was, and how it shows up asymptomatic in a good number of patients.

Everything we needed to know was all on that ship.

I’ll admit I never thought it would get this bad, but still think in the grand scheme of things it’s no where as bad as doomsdayers were hoping for.

The overreaction is what made this what it is

How exactly does this make sense?

Because the overreaction was based on reports of millions dead with no mitigation and hundreds of thousands, even half a million dead with mitigation.

The panic and overreaction was unwarranted based on what we know now.

Here’s another one for you Scruffy. Karen is still making sure you save lives. Staying at home isn’t enough. These fake numbers are even more important:

Imagine being dumb enough to think that two people wearing masks drops your chances of getting covid by 98%. If that were true, it should have been the only mitigating factor taken from day one.

I meant in the context of his post - look at both things I quoted, not just the bottom one.

He can’t say he never thought it would get this bad and then say the overreaction caused this, because that doesn’t make any sense. I was asking him to clarify.

That does seem ridiculous

Maybe y’all should stop reacting to stupid people

And “Karen” has now surpassed the word “melt” for the most “it’s tough to take you seriously if you use it often” word on this site.

It’s shorter than typing “facebook covid warrior females”

And the reaction is to how much an image like that gets shared and liked and the OP praised for her bravery in sharing it. Which is all it was really intended for anyway. These people don’t actually care who lives and dies. They just like the attention from other women who only like and share posts so that 5 hours later you like and share theirs.

You don’t know how attention works. They get nothing from me other than a laugh and a lack of respect.

And a paragraph long rant on a different social media website

But I’m sure you do that for all the people/groups you don’t really care about
