I think it’s difficult to not look at these rates of infection and morbidity rates and not want to go look at poverty rates. I would imagine that’s another factor that LA/NY/Cali share is the amount of citizens or per capita that live at or below the poverty line.
That’s a huge indicator for poor health outcomes.
Obesity and smoking are both far more common in lower income brackets. Both have strong correlation to poor outcomes with this.
Models are using average HH income, median HH income, and education averages in their formulas. I know ours are.
ETA:
Interestingly I believe obesity rates are more steady for men across income brackets, but women spike in the lower levels. Just a CSB from what I've found during this.

What's the context of that video?

This is pretty disturbing.
Hard to watch

Its just a video being secretly filmed at a Hospital in New York.

Whoever stacked those is an amateur. Whenever I stack dead bodies, I always put them head to toe down the length of the hallway and leave a gap in the middle for people to pass.
Looks like they just opened the door, tossed them into the hall and left them where they landed. Sloppy, sloppy work.

Looking through the comments, it seems the source of that video is unconfirmed.

Yeah I’m calling bullshite until a major outlet reports it... no doctors or anyone calling that condition out?

Call it what you want. I report, you decide

Look at comments. People all over the globe are saying they’ve seen it but the location was “x hospital in x country”. Sad to see but we have no idea If this is even recent.

More good news on this Sunday, one of the metrics that some experts are watching is "doubling-times for deaths" the faster deaths double the worse things are - pretty simple. Overall, things are certainly starting to move in the right direction as the benefits of Social Distancing are starting to show up.
LINK
The thing to watch, do we continue to see steady improvement in this metric or does it plateau at some point. Since death is a lagging factor, at some point around 7 days doubling time we will start to see more people recovering than getting infected.

Exactly, not saying the bodies aren’t real, but that could be Italy, Wuhan, Spain, etc...

If you notice on one of the bags, writing is in English. Not saying that’s reason to believe it or not. Just sayin

You can just barely hear loudspeaker announcements in the background. Muted but but it doesn’t sound like English - maybe Spanish. Maybe it’s from there?
I just heard on the BBC that Ecuador reportedly has bodies in body bags laying around.

And you are wrong. Had we done nothing things would much much worse.
The problem here is that most people do not understand the real crisis which is the value of medical personnel.
The mortality numbers are irrelevant because the first “filter” comes down to the availability of medical personnel.
Since people don’t seem to like to deal charts and data or better don’t understand correlation, statistical error, statistical deviations, etc.
Why don’t we ask Commander_Data how likely it would be that he’d be alive if he had a 1st year intern or a 1st year nurse or even part-time care to address his horrible ordeal.
For those of you who love to say well x amount of people die every day. Fine let’s add in a natural event that happens all the time, a multi car crash with 5-7 patients in serious to critical condition, on top of that. Oh we can’t forget Mr. Smith’s stroke.
So we have three events occurring we have only a first year doctor and nurse to handle all three because you wanted to do nothing.
Maybe now you see where there is a problem and why this is such a crisis.

There are numerous well sourced reports that things are bad down there. In fact, it looks like many urban areas in Central & S America are getting hit hard.

Even though NYC doesn’t have a terribly high crime rate, this is still pretty shocking.
