Coronavirus: 910 confirmed deaths, 40,000 infected. That’s about 1 in 45 dead.

The flu has claimed 12,000 lives in 22 million cases. That’s 1 death about every 1,800 cases.

As I stated in the headline, the coronavirus has killed 1 in every 45 cases. It’s WAY deadlier than the flu.

If coronavirus was as prevalent as the flu and 22 million people were infected, that would lead to over 500,000 deaths.

12,000 flu vs. 500,000 coronavirus.

This thing is super deadly.

A. China is not a 3rd world country.

B. So what that it’s in China? It’s not like there is a cure available and the citizens just aren’t getting it because they’re poor. It’s a virus.

That’s interesting, I didn’t think of any connection between the Hong Kong stuff and coronavirus. Could also explain why China has been so dramatic about it. Anyway they can convince the masses they need the government

Could be, but that has nothing to do with the death rate once the virus is contracted.

Compared to what? Unlike SARS, so far it appears most who get this won't get very sick at all.

That's a point of distinction they keep raising. SARS basically guaranteed you would get very ill even if it wasn't likely to be fatal, AND there was a significantly higher chance of death.

Large parts of China are total shitholes with way too many people living on top of each other

Cause of death is respiratory destress secondary to severe viral pneumonia.

There are books on supportive care on the topic.

You probably won’t start seeing many deaths in Western countries until the infection is so wide spread that hospitals run out of vent equipped beds.
