According to their Mom (J), things started to get tense when he brought Peter Sclafani (former head chef at Ruffino's) in as a partner.

Because Watson has a realistic chance of making a runoff, and the powers that be don’t want a republican mayor.

That’s what I thought, wondered if I was missing something.

ME Cormier... what a fricking count. Her own neighbors detest her IIRC.

Cormier in the mix too.
I'm betting it was filed on her behalf by her little lap dog lawyer Donald Hodge. He's an activist lawyer who files lawsuits at the drop of a hat. The little prick even sued the EBR Sheriff's Dept. because he was in the LSU students section at a game and didn't have a ticket. They asked him t leave and he got pissy, so they cuffed him and removed him. He's the one who also sued the school board when they picked someone who signed the SG petition as their VP.

M D Cormier = loser

She’s all into the SG thing and lives in BR. Their motto is better together when the parish leadership is 100% for NBR snd special interests.

Other than SWB as the incumbent, Tara Wicker and Matt Watson are the two strongest candidates in this race. I won't be in the least bit surprised to see both of them get attacked from both sides, including their own.

this statement on phils instagram page sure does make it seem that way.

Voting for Broome is a pretty huge red flag too.

Not so much, imo. Broome was a bait and switch. She was touted as a business-friendly moderate in the Kip mold, but has been openly antagonistic to business leaders since. Bodi, on the other hand, campaigned openly antagonistic of downtown businesses, framing his campaign as one of the suburbs vs the city. I can understand voting for broome over bodi. There’s zero excuses for voting for JBE over Vitter or Rispone.

For Wicker, the spoiler is Marcelle. Denise is a Gravy black democrat,’a radical racist marxist. When Broome beat her out in the primary last go-around, she joined Broome’s staff to shore up black support. This was necessary because Broome isn’t originally from Baton Rouge, and was seen by many in the black community as a carpet bagger and a sellout. As mayor, she hasn’t really been able to shake those labels from her detractors in the black community.

Marcelle will likely not go after Broome too hard, though, and instead focus her efforts on tanking Wicker. Wicker has bucked the black democrats on the counsel on several issues, and Marcelle will likely try to paint her as an uncle tom. Marcelle is likely in the race to run the dirty attacks on Wicker to weaken her while Broome keeps her hands clean and continues to look like the adult in the room. Funding a clown like Piazza to do the same to Watson and weaken her most likely runoff opposition just seems to make far too much sense.

I don't know...it was pretty easy to see through that facade.

Not to mention before she was even elected she said her first order of business was removing a well liked police chief, something she didn't even have the power to do. It was pretty clear throughout her campaign she was going to be divisive.

She's also quite dumb, so I'm not sure how she inspired confidence in anyone.

JBE ran as an old school Louisiana "blue dog" following Jindal's epic fail and Vitter with a pretty big scandal attached to him. It was the perfect storm for him to win. He was more of a bait and switch IMO. I didn't vote for him but understood how he fooled some.

JBE had a record in the legislature attached to his name which was extremely liberal. A cursory look into his voting record would show his campaign’s framing of him was a complete fabrication.

Weston-Broome didn’t have anything like that to reference. She immediately took off her disguise as soon as she was sworn in, but she hid it relatively well, at least through the primary. Once she brought in Gravy and Marcelle into her campaign, I knew she was not trustworthy.

Yeah, admitting to voting for Broome and JBE on camera prob wasn't the best idea

It was an attempt to appeal to the middle, a misguided and premature one at that. Watson needs to run an ad ASAP with that brief clip of Piazza to consolidate the party as quickly as possible.

I say that, but Piazza doesn't appear to be much of a Republican at all. But, that's the base he's going for.

This. St. George peeps tried many different avenues to get what they wanted without incorporating. They extended olive branch after olive branch and were told to pound sand. Incorporation is happening, and the only thing holding it back is partisan pettiness as they panic to protect the money they have been stealing from the folks in St. George. They would have gotten off so much cheaper had they taken the olive branch offered after the previous petition failed.
