Core charge for a battery is absurd

Ridiculous law. So I never actually own my batteries and get to save them. You have to bring in your old battery so Autozone, Wally World etc can cash in at the recycler every month. If you don’t a $10 fee
What a total racket

You own your battery. You just get paid if you don't want to keep it.

You don't have to trade them in if you don't want. It's not required.

The little battery place I go to gives me a few bucks off the new one if I trade my old one in. Plus he’s about 40% cheaper on his batteries than Walmart.

What are you planning on doing with your battery collection?

Did the little girl at the counter change it for you satisfactorily, Daniel?

You, have no idea what you’re talking about. The core charge is charged to the retailer when they buy the battery and they only pass that cost on to the buyer with no markup. You return or exchange your core, the retailer makes 0 profit off the core. As a matter of fact, we would prefer you pay the core charge and keep your damn core. We have to do a metric ton of paperwork to return cores. So, in closing, frick you.

Used to always pick up a couple old batteries if I made a trip to the landfill for this reason. Now I have to pay about $2 per pound to have batteries flown out or old batteries flown back. $15 core charge doesn’t bother me much anymore.

Exactly what law?

You must work at one of the Spicy Walmart stores.

I don't know why I always have sticker shock when buying a battery but for some reason in my head they are still $50-60. I know they haven't been in a long time but every time I buy one I'm like wtf?

I’ve found Costco to be by far the cheapest.

This is true and would be a 50 pg thread. Nostalgia expenses. Gas. Beer. You name it.

There’s a separate non-refundable charge if they catch you questioning the core charge, fyi. Go easy.

I use them to sink Christmas trees in my crappie pond.
