Sounds like a problem that will eventually take care of itself

I spoke to a guy who is on the Board of Regents at Georgia Tech a few months ago. He holds a few community fundraisers in the Atlanta area including one for the Atlanta Police Department. He told me that the APD has had over 130 officers resign and take jobs elsewhere due to the blowback from this stuff and particularly the officer who shot Jacob Blake. Naturally violence has soared here in Atlanta with the reduced police presence and cops feeling like they dont have the support necessary to prevent this violence. We discussed for a good while the long term ramifications of this and neither of us thought things would get better in the near future. As much as the moderate wing of the DNC is trying to push back on the "Defund the Police Movement" (even Obama spoke out against this in a recent interview) the cat is out of the bag on this. With the most vocal Dems being the progressives who advocate this nonsense, expect violence to continue to rise in major cities across the US.

They just move to a suburb near you and continue their shitty voting habits until it gets bad and they pick up and move somewhere else.
Friend of mine sold their house in the city and is moving to the burbs (Wayzata). The house they bought had 12 offers after being listed for less than a week. The Minneapolis burbs are BOOMING.

This is happening very openly but quietly in New Orleans. A lot of longtime New Orleans bluebloods whose families have owned homes in the city for generations are selling and moving to Metairie. It will be good for my property value.

They have a lot of Somali immigrants right?
Maybe they should hire them and let them institute Sharia Law within the police force. Think the entire population of SJWs would change their tune immediately when they realize they’d be first on the chopping block...literally and figuratively

The people of Minneapolis have done this to themselves. I really don’t care if that place eats itself alive. Have they tried midnight basketball or negotiating a peace treaty between the gangs that are destroying their communities?

And their fellow far leftist liberals working as journalists ran with it.

Less cops to go around shutting down businesses at least
I will guarantee you the quality of life in the area will increase with fewer cops around fricking with people. I will also guarantee you that all of the comply or die motherfrickers bitch like a scalded kitty when they get a speeding ticket or are pulled over for a tail light being out.
Decreased funding for government agencies coupled with increased demand for EFFICIENT service from government agencies is RIGHT off the GOP playbook....but not when it comes to the police...hell no....budgets and effifeciencies be damned, we gotta keep the poors in line....and by poors they really only mean black and brown folks.

Going to be interesting to see how this plays out, that's for sure.

You mean the people who are also the disproportionate victims of increased crime?
Yeah that’s not even a majority of them support this nonsense.
And, yeah, quality of life really improves when some parks are now unusable since the cops can’t remove squatters who now camp there and harass residents and leave garbage and drug paraphernalia all over the place.
Add in tons of additional petty thefts, graffiti, and things l like that and, wow, quality of life is booming!

Ya, quality of life for the people burning, looting, and committing other crimes

Not so much for the innocents and business owners.

How could this violence be possible in predominantly black neighborhoods?
I just don’t..... get it

Can confirm. Living outside of Minneapolis, most people out here hate everything going on in “the cities”.

Where the hell are the social workers when you need them?

If you read the actual article you will find that this trend is up across the country and has been trending up for about 6 years. You will also find that the time line merely started at the Floyd incident....but the increase in crime is, in part, actually attributed to COVID issues like RELEASING PEOPLE FROM JAIL AND PRISON....and kids being out of school and unemployment being way up. You will also find that police are basically refusing to do any work at all to make their point about how badly they are needed and how society will collapse without them...despite the fact that police control crime reports...any increase in crime can be because they suddenly started actually taking reports...again, to make their point.
My son was robbed at gunpoint in Aurora Colorado a couple of years ago, walking home from his college. He called the police when he got home and they took the information and asked if the should come take a report. Seriously. So he said he didn't know if it would do any good...and other than that entry in a phone log there is NO RECORD of this crime having been committed. It was not reported as a crime in Aurora because the police did not respond...but you can bet they would if, for some reason, their chain of command was making a point of how badly cops were needed....but when that point is being made? They frickers can't be bothered.
Police are a necessary evil but when large segments of the policed are very aware that the police are not there to protect and serve but are instead there to harass and make sure police can do whatever they damn well please without consequence the damage is done.
