Still not my job. Discredit this one instance with some facts. I'll wait.

I bet that was awesome to watch in person.

She was with a whole pack of little pirates. I bet they all stopped stealing when they saw their homegirl dropped like a sack of potatoes, riding the lightning, and lying there doing the chicken.

While the officer is wrong, he damn sure upped their good citizen quotient.

It's funny because you're the one that's actually doing the dodging. If something wrong happened here, prove it. Should be simple for you...

I would guess that 11 years old was close to 200 pounds, just a guess.

Mom said she is 4'11. 98 pounds. Mom, while short, is a rotund non-parent.

Oh? Theres tons of people on here claiming tasers are acceptable to use on children, yet you and others are having difficulty coming up with such a scenario. How is that dodging a question?

Ok, if someone has trouble detaining an 11 year old girl without a taser, I can think of better vocations for them. If you think thats unreasonable, how do teachers control entire classrooms/camps/playgrounds/etc full of children without tasers? Or do you think its appropriate to start using tasers in the classroom too?

Scanario: Child is about to throw some object at the officer. Glass, metal, etc that she could get her hands on quickly. Maybe she was attempting to overturn a whole rack at the store to escape.

Until we see video, there is nothing proving what the cop did was excessive.

Being as she was tased in the back I doubt she was throwing something backwards.

Could of been reaching for an object. I mean you said to name scenarios. I did.

Don't waste your time. Nothing will ever satisfy him.

ETA: Called it.

Yes you did. I guess I should have said plausible scenarios. One that you actually believe happened.

Eta: But you're right I suppose. Without video, for all we know the 11 year old girl was in the process of going on a rampage and endngering every person in the store.

I can tell you I don't believe she was casually walking away and the mean cop decided he wanted to taser her for no other reason.

Some additional details, not sure if they’ve all been posted in this thread:

quote:

Police said the girl ignored the officer's commands to stop and when she kept walking away, Officer Kevin Brown deployed the stunning device.

quote:

Police Chief Eliot Isaac said an investigation had been launched and Brown was put on restricted duties. Prosecutor Joe Deters said the girl would not face charges despite police initially charging her with theft and obstructing official business.

LINK
quote:

It is not yet clear what threat the 11-year-old girl may have posed to the off-duty officer as she walked away from him.
quote:

The department’s use-of-force policy allows using the disabling weapon on suspects between the ages of 7 and 70. But the policy also spells out when officers should avoid deploying the weapon.

“An individual simply fleeing from an officer, absent additional justification, does not warrant the use of the TASER,” the policy reads.

LINK
ETA:
quote:

Police have said Officer Brown did not activate his body camera prior to his use of the Taser and no other video appears to exist of the incident. Brown's camera was turned on after the Taser was deployed, officials said. That footage has not yet been released.

Unless there's video of her simply walking away, many on here will not believe the police narrative that she was simply doing so.

If she was doing anything to threaten the officer, you would think the police department would be the first to say so..

How often do you tase your kids?
