Redneck guy's dog charges cop and cop kills it. Redneck guy is ordered to cut dog's head off to be submitted to a lab to get tested for rabies. I've never heard of such a thing. How bout a damn blood or saliva test?

Crawford is southwest of Macon so maybe Mid-South Ga (closer to Alabama than to Florida). It was on the news here in Perry a few days ago

I understand the testing aspect. I have no doubt that's a smart thing to do. It's the order for the civilian to perform an on-site decapitation that I'm having trouble believing exist in police protocol.

I would pick up my dead dog, full of tears and fury, and bring him to the closest vet. A person who knows exactly what part of the head is needed, and could likely perform the test as well.
The cop is either a sadistic frick, or a retard.

The definitive test is to look at the brain of the animal. It’s important bc if you get rabies, it’s damn near 100% chance you die without prophylaxis. A terrible, excruciating death too.

depends if the owner insisted on burying the dog? we dont know the full story
granted yes that part was a little weird because they usually take the whole dog and cremate it after, you dont get your dog back, that may have been what caused the de-heading issue
