Pretty sure every border town in Texas that is bigger than like 5k people has a good steakhouse.

Progresso is the one OK border crossing in Texas.

But you’re not wrong. Most of my Hispanic friends from border towns are deathly afraid to visit Mexico lol. It’s not how it used to be

For those who don’t know ojo locos is Mexican cantina hooters but 3x more ratchet. Never been to the one in the valley but I can only imagine what it’s like.

The safest one is probably the one near Ingram park mall in San Antonio, and even that one is pretty rough.

It’s mostly Mexicans moving from Mexico.

There are a few old white boomers who move from states like Michigan but they only live there during winter mostly.

There are a few other non Hispanic people moving in from other places but not too many.

The most white school is probably 20% white non Hispanic. Most are like 5% white non hispanic.

It is very overwhelmingly hispanic, many of the white people. are married to Hispanics or speak Spanish or even are part hispanic themselves.

Still better than El Paso. It is a relatively Americanized type of hispanic culture.

Industries - oil and gas, import/export. Jobs don’t pay jack shite, so better work remote or start a business.

The houses are much cheaper than San Antonio, which is also cheaper than most Places, at least if you want to live in a rich neighborhood.

Sharyland and north McAllen are the best parts. Also some nice spots around Brownsville. They are mostly rich Mexicans and rich whites.

Harlingen is the most country/redneck/white, but it is sorta trashy too.

Laredo housing is expensive though.

Not really the place you want to be getting out and about in. You should stay in your hotel, door dash for food. Very unsafe area.

It’s incredible that people believe this. It’s actually a bit safer than some of the bigger metros in Texas.

Definitely go to Vampiz in Nuevo Progresso.

Update night one. Landed at the airport and checked into the courtyard next to the airport. I’m avid preferred so good experience at the airport.

Met the Board at the Patio. Very nice place. Looked to be in the downtown area. Ceviche was great and had the Sea Bass. Very good, but the Tomohawk looked fantastic.

Good corporate banter back and forth. Back in the hotel, in bed watching the Chargers. Hampton is on my fantasy team but fading fast from a full belly.
