Fun fact some may not know, the saying "your name is Mudd" came from the Lincoln assassination. Dr. Mudd treated Booth for his injuries sustained while trying to escape the scene of the murder.

quote:

Booth fatally shot Lincoln on April 14, 1865, but was injured during his escape from the scene. He subsequently rode with conspirator David Herold to Mudd's home in the early hours of April 15 for surgery on his fractured leg before he crossed into Virginia. Sometime that day, Mudd must have learned of the assassination but did not report Booth's visit to the authorities for another 24 hours. This fact appeared to link him to the crime, as did his various changes of story under interrogation. A military commission found Mudd guilty of aiding and conspiring in a murder, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment, escaping the death penalty by a single vote.

Mudd was pardoned by President Andrew Johnson and released from prison in 1869. Despite repeated attempts by family members and others to have it expunged, his conviction has not been overturned.

It appears the conspirators were all Yankees, (or something), and not the Southern sympathizers we have been led to believe.

If that tells you anything about what the original United States of America, was about to become.

Our country was stolen from US in 1871 and turned into an incorporated conglomeration of States.

I’ve been there, and I could see how someone could easily get to that box, especially as a famous actor like Booth. He was sneaky, but probably didn’t have to be.

That assassination is what sparked the idea of presidential security.

Lincoln knew his arse was grass. He once told his bodyguards, “I have perfect confidence in those who are around me, in every one of your men … But if it is to be done, it is impossible to prevent it.” Since we have Aggie AND Bama fans posting here, this quote was uttered BEFORE the assassination.

History also documented that John F Parker was a poor choice because he had no history of being reliable. He left his post, just as he had previously done, and had a drink at a nextdoor bar, just as he had previously done, and was with a prostitute the next morning, just as he had previously done.

There was at least one other assignation on Lincoln, that I know of... He was out riding his horse one afternoon when someone took a shot at him and the bullet went threw his top hat.

Young George Washington had more than one “bullet” hole through his cloak after his confrontation with the French at Ft. Necessity, but he wasn’t struck. History is truly a razor’s edge.

John Wilkes Booth, and the Booth family in general, were very deeply tied to the power structures in Washington and London, and had been for a very, very long time. And they still are today.

Lord Mayor of London John Wilkes

Wilkes was also a member of the Hellfire Club and a noted libertine (other notable libertines throughout history include the Marquis de Sade, Aleister Crowley, and Anton LaVey). That would be the same Hellfire Club that included as a member a ‘Founding Father” by the name of Benjamin Franklin. And that would be the same Benjamin Franklin whose London home from that era yielded the remains of at least ten bodies, six of them children.

It was the Hellfire Club, by the way, that first coined the phrase “Do what thou wilt,” which was later appropriated by Aleister Crowley. And it was the Hellfire Club that was widely rumored during its heyday to be conducting black masses and other occult/Satanic rituals, along with drunken orgies and various other acts of debauchery.

I guess crazy conspiracy "theories" are all the same.

I remember Roger Mudd (the newscaster) giving some kind editorial on his ancestor Dr Mudd. I thought it was some type of official exoneration that the US government announced for Dr. Mudd. Doing a little research it looks like the exoneration was a failure. I just remember being surprised that it was his ancestor.

Like the fact that the photo of Dr. Mudd that was officially released, and presented above, isn’t actually Dr. Mudd at all. It appears to be Hartmann Richter, a cousin of George Atzerodt who was never charged with any complicity in the assassination plot. The real Dr. Mudd is pictured below.

Is he not the conspirator who decided not to assassinate Johnson when the moment came?

Me? Nah

I think that I’ve seen it suggested by others, though.
