My high schooler got an invite to this in the mail. I can find very little about this online except their web site. Anyone ever heard of them before? I've put in a call to the high school to see if they have any info. Of course it's a substantial fee to have him attend.....
Thanks
Thanks

Looks like a pretty interesting convention put on for high school kids with ambition. Is your kid interested in healthcare as a career choice? It looks like he/she had to be nominated by a teacher.

Looks like a huge scam to me. $1000 to attend a conference to network before you even attend college?

good Lord, I'd wager the kids attending this thing are likely smarter than their parents already.

Maybe it is, I'm not sure. I just barely browsed the website for the event. I like conventions, though.

We see this crap in higher ed all the time. Its the evolution of "Who's Who"
Your kid is smart, Your kid is awesome. This is a scam that appears to not be a scam. Stay away from it.
Just like Who's Who sold those $75 books back in the day, its evolved into several groups like this. They put on a convention, get a couple of speakers and make bank. If your child is interested in healthcare, help them learn to network yourself.

I figured as much. I have the kid scheduled to spend a volunteer month at UAB hospital here in town. They have a high school program for the kids. It's also free.
Thanks.
Thanks.

That's awesome. UAB has a great medical school and is a wonderful teaching hospital. Definitely think that will prove more valuable in the short and long-term than the BS conference.

Is he considering Optometry?

I got invited to these things all the time back in the day.
Just a pointless convention to get money off of kids parents
Don't bother
