Virtually no difference between Chicago and Houston, and barely a difference between Chicago and BR.

My point remains.

They are pretty comparable. Murder rates are good click bait but most middle class people have a very low chance of being a random murder victim, even in a dangerous city. Birmingham surprised me at #3 though.

Houston and Chicago have pretty much the same population

But Chicago had 300 more murders than Houston in 2018

Absolutely.

I just think it's funny when BR/NOLA locals make this distinction about their cities and then act like others are just a warzone across the entire city.

New Orleans had 26% of the murders Chicago had despite having 14% of their population.

The poverty rates are the most depressing of those statistics. 1 out of 4. And probably another 15 to 20 percent are just above that.

Except the double number of murders

My point with that post was that a lot of the people that call Nola or BR shitholes because of the crime rates often extoll the virtues of cities that rank right there with us. Our economic records and others are legitimate criticisms

I thought you were comparing Houston and Chicago?

You said

Virtually no difference between Chicago and Houston,

I was just pointing out the 300 murder difference

That’s pretty significant given that those 2 cities are pretty close in population.

Crime is the honest reason that I'm looking to move to the upper plains. I'd rather put up with shitty winter weather than worry about violent crime.

are you really that worried about it tho?

i live in one of the most dangerous cities in the country and the only time I think about crime is when I read about it on here. That said, I don’t have kids

I’d rather live in Mogadishu than somewhere with shitty winter weather.

Okay... maybe that is a little bit of an exaggeration, but for reals, frickkkkkkk the cold.

In terms of the violent crime rate, there's virtually no difference.

Who thinks that?

I think there are more people who think NOLA is more dangerous for visitors

Whoever filmed that deserves to be beaten.

It’s almost 2020, there is zero reason to be filming in portrait mode.

People love referencing Chicago in terms of violence on here. I said that in response to the OP without having referenced the thread, and surprise surprise, there’s a discussion surrounding Chicago already.
