Confirmed: "Guy 'armed' with a burrito under a blanket" at LC Memorial Hospital

Update: CPSO says man walked in with a large object hidden under a blanket and went to sixth floor. Police are clearing floors above and below. They say the man is locked down on 6th floor. Treating as active shooter. No reports of shots fired.

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Authorities are responding to a situation at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, according to Lt. Kevin Kirkum, with Lake Charles Police. A video from a viewer shows authorities and K9 around the building. LCPD and the the Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office are currently working the situation. Kirkum says the situation is a possible active shooter. Hospital spokesman Matt Felder says that he has not heard of reports of any shots being fired. He deferred further questions to law enforcement. The Sheriff’s Office has Oak Park Boulevard in front of the hospital blocked off. Witnesses at the hospital say the hospital is on lockdown.

I know that hospital well. It's surrounded by the hood, so who knows what could be happening.

Hearing someone tried to rob the gift shop and they are unable to find him. Supposedly still in the hospital somewhere.

friend of mine worked security at a hospital in the Jacksonville, FL ghetto area. They weren't allowed to have firearms but constantly had to deal with gang members hitting up the hospitals for revenge attacks.

Sister works there. Some have been evacuated to the parking lot. Some are locked down.

She says her floor is lockdown but otherwise normal. They announced a security alert on intercom but no craziness.
