Sorry your family is trash.
Lets just say you might want to get some ancestry.com gifts for them so they know they might not be the race they think they are.
There's a lot of shite talk in this thread but at the end of the day class beats race every time.
Different race investment bankers in Manhattan will have more in common than a white physician and white trailer park resident.
So is your family poor?

Your parents are who they are......and they are yours.....always and forever
You knew this would happen. That is why you intentionally hid it from them. It may not have helped your cause to tell them earlier, but it surely wouldn't have hurt.
All you can do is keep trying. Maybe time and experience will show how well she treats their son and grandchildren.

Choosing a black mate will forever alienate you from your parents. You will not change that. Just understand the consequences of your decision and be able to live with it.

True. She's from an older generation and I guess set in those ways. She won't disown me. But I'm hopeful she will at least meet her and give her a chance. Maybe she will come around.

No. My mom is actually a Wiccan priestess.

I am. I'd be foolish to ever let her go. I want to spend my life with her.

Your mom will come around. She's not really a racist she's just stunned right now.

Let some time pass and then write her a letter.
Letting her know you are aware of her discomfort and that you hope one day she learns to love this sweet slice of brown sugar goodness just as much as you do.
THen tell her ,she and your dad taught the value of love and she deserves credit for not forcing her backward thinking on you, Most parents force their biases on their own kids and she was a good enough woman to teach you the best part of her value system and not the worst

Put on your big boy pants....weigh all the potential positives and negatives, including the FUTURE an any offspring y'all may produce and the hardships they may encounter throughout their lives. You and your SO are the main thing but what you do/create can/will affect others that are or will be, close to you !

Heck, my mother got upset that I married "inter-religiously". (is that a word?)
The fact is that just some children just aren't going to measure up to what they envisioned their parents wanted them to have..

I'm really hoping my mom will come around. But, there is no way I'm going to let her influence me on this.
If she doesn't want my SO at her house for Thanksgiving then I won't be there either. There is no way I'd go there without my SO.
