IDK about a device for your door, but my daughter, at 4, cut her little finger tip off from shutting a closet door on it. I can't imagine the damage your door could do. Good Luck.
They sewed the finger tip back on BTW. Bad couple of days.

You know how I know you don't live near the ocean? Because the salt air wrecks steal and certain other metals. I asked specifically about beachfront because anyone that has dealt with property there even things on the inside know. I don't want to install something that gets eaten by the salt air in a year, because that literally happens.
But we were talking about how the wind slamming the door was worse on the waterfront condos in your subtlebrag, not corrosion in an ocean environment. Keep it straight.

I came here for honest advice and I don't mind the ball busting. I intentionally left out other details, and frankly I never even said I owned them if you want to get technical. For all you know from what I said I'm a maintenance tech that makes $12/ hour that was given a problem to solve.
But yes I said in my experience a lot of condos on the water have the door slamming problem, I'd assume because of the breeze off the water coming unobstructed until the condo building and then hitting a flat wall of concrete with only a couple small holes where the door was. So I thought that may be relevant.
Again I looked up door closures but they are made to actually close a door. I wasn't sure and can't seem to find their ability to actually prevent a strong force from shutting a door?

Okay, you've been a good sport. Automatic door closers should keep the door from slamming. They're spring-loaded to pull the door closed, but they almost all have a hydraulic/pneumatic system in them that allows you to adjust closing speeds with some adjustment screws; the harder you try to close the door, the more resistance they push back with to keep the spring plus whatever's pushing against the door from slamming it significantly faster than it's set to close (try to force a door with a door closer to close faster than it's set to and you'll see what I mean).
They're available in aluminum trim to resist the salt air.
They're probably also available in Hastelloy C/Monel/Inconel if you want to up the subtlebrag quotient.

The unit creates a draft when the balcony door is open. The higher up the unit is, the worse the draft is on the front door.
If the balcony door is closed, then all you need to do is adjust the closer's backcheck. This is a screw in the end of the piston of the closer that is adjusted by way of an Allen wrench, usually 10mm. If the door has only spring hinges, then install a closer.

Well thank you captain obvious. Now I know why my saltwater series engine has stainless instead of regular metal. What would we do in south Louisiana without you

From reading online those door things only close a door, do they regulate how fast it closes? They made so a door is not left open, but I can't tell if they actually prevent a door from slamming?
They work perfectly for this. Your condo should have one already on it. There are adjustments you can make to the "close" and "latch" speed/ force. YouTube has plenty of videos showing how to adjust.
If your unit is 8+ years old, you may need to replace it.
Edit: You may need to make small adjustments to latch speed setting in winter months. Ours works perfect in summer and prevents the slamming you're worried about. When it colder out, we need to make a small adjustment in the setting so it has enough force to "latch" when the fluids are colder.

Well you can't spell steel so I kind of believe you.

If you're leaving the door open for multiple trips in and out, slice a pool noodle and slip it onto the door. Will cushion the door and not make it slam.

They don't slam, frickstick. fricking Google and read you lazy jiz. And who cares about the metal, replace it in 5 years if it corodes.

We had this problem in our 3 bedroom condo at the top of Turquoise Place East Tower in Orange Beach. We ended up just hiring a doorman to open the door for us. We will probably install a sliding door like we have on our place in Fiji. I never really grew comfortable with the revolving door we have in Greece so probably will not go that route.

Don't you guys have a place in Aruba? Met a couple that had a place in the other places you list...it's a small world!

Well, if you slam your condom in the door, just make sure you're not in it.

Yes we did have a place in Aruba but ended up giving it to our son when he got married. We do still use it occasionally.

We really like our home in Aruba. The wife and her sister are in Monte Carlo this week for a showing of a new duplex on the strip. Of course we do have a limited budget.

Thank you, that's exactly the info I was looking for. Makes sense.
I think I'll try an aluminum one in one unit and one of those more fancy ones in the other unit of ours'. Neither have them, I'd think they'd be standard as others have said but I'm 0 for 2.

quote:Don't act like this is the difference between getting valet and self-park. $200k on a second home that you'll use every other weekend (maybe) isn't in the cards for most people.
Beach condos can be bought for $200k, doesn't take a baller.
If you can afford that and more, then great. I'm happy for you. I harbor no ill will towards you. BUT don't roll your eyes and look at the rest of us like we just aren't working hard/smart enough.
