the market for tangible media is apparently me and 50 other old farts. A Nashville friend with a studio spent last week with us, and was talking about the process of recording/producing/mixing and releasing music. I was asking him about the process of releasing music and asked how he shipped the finished product. I meant "how do you get the music to the cd pressers." He mentioned sending the files to spotify, so i said i didn't know spotify pressed cds. He laughed and said "that's not how it's done anymore."

Nobody buys cds and the streaming services pay pennies per billion listens. the only way to make a living is the gate.

Ticket prices have been insane for years.

I rem reading about someone that paid $100k plus for Beyoncé tickets.

Hmm that $100k could put together a great stereo system in your house.

Just get into EDM. The shows are all very reasonably priced and there's always lots of Eastern Euro chicas there

I paid $77 for one ticket to see Vince Gill back on the 5th, and that was at the FOX Theater in Atlanta.

The most expensive ticket was $130 down by the orchestra pit.

A lot of it also depends on the act.

Stop going.

But, nah. None of us actually want to participate in capitalism.

but there are several glitches in concert tickets specifically which circumvent actual free markets. I do not know how none of these have been taken to courts for Anti Trust violations.

There are bots with an unfair digital advantage that sell out shows in two seconds (false demand pressure/false scarcity) who's intentions are simply for resale purposes.

Additionally, because tickets are all digital and the venues often have contracts with Ticketmaster (which creates a monopoly on ticket delivery) they can add on fees that are, in some cases, as much as the ticket prices.

Lots of middle men driving up the prices, interfering with the free market. This was not happening in the days when you had to wait in a line at will call and purchase paper tickets.

Easy solution....Don't go!

If they didn’t resell them, they wouldn’t have the incentive to buy them.

But I agree the government has dropped the ball on this issue.

It all depends on the act. The people complaining about ticket prices are going to see the biggest pop acts in the world. I've rarely paid over $100 for a ticket and I go to lots of shows.
