Computers are getting dumber…

The task bar search feature can’t find shite anymore. Literally pulls up internet shopping and random web searches. If there were only other programs for that…
I thought searching your computer for files would always be the easy part…it can’t even find a file I have open.
Programmers for the last 10 years have just sucked to develop computers…stop…you’re making it worse.

I always put stuff I want to find in folders on my desktop.
They don't get buried in the computer.

sounds like its finding shite...
I bet you still have it sitting in the middle of your task bar too, and showing you the damn weather and stock tips...
Problem in this case is between the keyboard and the back of the seat

I have an old windows XP box I use for music and it works great. Except for browsers I'd still use it everyday. Since Android and Apple everything wants to be that. Why does everything have to connect to the interweb?

It’s a work computer. I work on uniquely named assets and it legitimately can’t find whole folders named the asset…with most of the files containing that exact name. WTF? I can click down through the folders and find it, have a document open…take that file name without the extension and it cannot find it.
Didn’t it used to work? Was the start menu search feature different from the task bar search feature? Why on earth?

If your computer is password protected why not put the files you want onto the desktop?
The older you get the worse your memory gets as to what the file names are and whatnot.

I haven't touched a computer in over 5 years. :winning:

Who remembers when Google desktop was just going to allow us to have a virtual pile of crap on our computer searchable at a moments notice?
Why finish projects like that when you can make DEI topics artificially rank in first place of your index search your priority, I guess?

ironically, if you go into that search box and do search settings, you will find how to achieve what you are looking for....

File explorer is garbage as well. Whatever the latest update was, it's slow as hell and can't find shite.
