The exact thing I thought when I got to the window.

You could've taken the Amtrak Crescent northbound for a fraction of what you paid for your Uber.
Gainesville, Toccoa, Clemson are the stops after Atlanta; train leaves ATL at 11:30 PM.

Our flight didn’t get in until 1, and we also had a hotel reservation to think about. The uber was only $96, it’s more the aggravation of it all.
It was pandemonium in the rental car center as I was far from the only person who got screwed. There was a lot of people in the same predicament.

nothing else, I’d like to be compensated for the uber ride.

I’m really surprised that no company has been able to disrupt the rental car industry

This is all kinda suspicious lol

Get on their social media pages and start writing about how horrible the experience was... they all have customer service people monitoring their social media.
What if I told you most of the companies are all owned by the same mother company/PE firm... bad press for one doesn't hurt profit for the whole.
They don't guarantee a car and it's bullshite. Same for rental trucks. I booked one for the day I was moving out of a place and I show up, nothing available. It's a fricking racket.

Huh? What part of what I’ve said doesn’t square? It’s not like what I’ve said is all that extraordinary….

lol, funny you say that, my buddy told me the same thing when we ubering to the hotel. Enterprise which we ended up renting from has the same owner as national.

What if I told you I've gotten satisfactory results from multiple companies through their social media pages? Say whatever you want but it's worked for me several times.

This has happened to me twice in Atlanta. And the women “helping” were exactly what you expect from Atlanta women

That was my experience which made it even more infuriating.

You should report the Uber driver's unsafe driving and dispute the charge.

Yes. You had a reservation and the company didn't fulfill it.

Email me and I'll write about it.

I had to replace an oxygen sensor on my Tundra under warranty.
Mechanic broke it. They told me it would take a day to get the part, but they would pay for a rental from Enterprise to get me home.
I fought that piece of shite Geo Metro for 20 miles with a severely bad ball joint. Extremely unsafe but I wanted to get home.
This is what Enterprise potentially exposed me to.
This car was no way safe or roadworthy.
Just wanted to add when I was leaving to walk to the dealership, they had a salesman in a sportcoat and slacks vacuuming to get it ready for the next rental, after I told them it was unsafe.

I’ve had this happen. Trying to get out of Key West during a tropical storm and our flight was canceled. Able to make the reservation but no cars when we got there. Had to pay $400 for an uber to Miami.

We flew into Atlanta late Friday night
That was your mistake. Flying in late on a Friday night and expecting the rental car companies to still have cars on the lot is playing russian roulette.
Get there early in the day or prepare to spend the night close by and grab a car in the morning. Late arrival + a planned long drive is asking for trouble and the rental companies DNGAF anymore.

My plane was delayed and I was late arriving to Minneapolis. The counter for the rental car company I had a reservation with was empty as the employee gave away all the cars they had and bounced to the crib. The other rental car company had one car left, and that's how I ended up driving a Toyota Yaris around bumfrick Minnesota for a week.
