I started a thread a while ago on my daughter's catalytic converter being stolen while out of state. That thing had to sound like a tank after. All she ever drove it out there is to the shop to get it replaced. Getting an $800 ticket like that would have total royally pissed me off.

It's an existing law. This is simply a more effective way of enforcement. These loud exhaust assholes are a huge nuisance in Houston.

You realize there is already laws on the books about obsessive noise being a violation right? I'd be happy with our sherriff's office actually enforcing the laws that are already there. But i won't be upset when douchebags with pipes are getting fined for violating these ordinances via noise detection.
If this is a slippery slope, then it's the slowest moving slippery slope in American history considering noise ordinances have been in place for many decades.

I wish people were decent and would not litter, or wake people up at midnight with their shitty modified Hondas out of consideration for others and the space that we all share. But they aren’t. So I’m for laws disincentivizing these shite behaviors.
