I don't get it. Columbia just sizes their clothes so fat people can feel good about themselves. The mediums I've tried may as well be labeled XL. And it's not just limited to one kind of product. I get that the fishing shirts are supposed to have a looser fit. But if you are at all athletic, everything Columbia makes will fit like a tent.
A lot of it is because it's marketed toward dudes in their 50s or 60s (see my post about Orvis).
Brooks Brothers was the same way, which is why even pretty fat dudes are better served by getting the slim fit or regent or whatever they call it. I would think UA probably has better fitting fishing shirts. For general outdoor stuff, Arcteryx is worth the premium for the fit alone IMO.

I like the Columbia t-shirts and the Magellan cold gear fit long sleeve shirts are the tits.
Pretty much all I buy anymore. But you have to try it on before you buy it because they change sizing year to year.

Know any fat guys that can throw up 375 on the bench and also run a 4.5 40?

They are cut for southern men, i.e. fat guys whose exercise is walking from the atv to the deer stand.
Gotta spend some more money if you are in any kind of shape and want your clothes to fit. It's really a double hit for us fit guys: pay more for clothes now, and in the future because we will live longer.

The perlis crawfish polo is the single worst cut clothing item on earth. You have to be 5’ 3” 300 lb to wear one.

Columbia seems to just be poorly made clothing half the time, I’m 6’1 180 and I have some medium and large items that fit perfectly, but I have a LSU polo that’s a small and it’s still somewhat big. That’s what happens when the brand starts getting sold to academy

Patagonia refuses to acknowledge that people lift weights. Quality stuff but it never fits well.

What Columbia product are you talking about? Cause if it’s a fishing shirt, it’s meant to be worn while fishing. And NO ONE should really care what it looks like while fishing.
And if you’re trying to wear a Columbia fishing shirt for something other than fishing, you’re a trashy douche with bigger problems then the fit of your shirt.

Then wait till you wash it once and it widens up even more.

It's not about how you look. Clothes that fit are more functional and comfortable. Op is right.

You're "athletic" but you wear a medium.
