Sucks for the parents who can’t afford day care. Seriously. But, I’m sure the teachers will use that day off to adequately prepare....right?

ETA: Was not aware it was for middle/high schools. Retract above statement to an extent.

A Colorado school district says it will save about $1 million a year by giving middle and high school students Mondays off.

That seems like it would put an extreme burden on the parents - unless they are teachers and have the day off also.

MAybe the saved tax dollars could go towards some sort of daycare for the off day?

I'm almost positive the schools are offering subsidized, low cost day care for parents who want it.

ETA: Yep...

While the school district plans on saving money, some parents will have to pay a little more for child care. Fiedler said the district offers child care services on the days kids won't be in school. It costs $30 a day which he admits isn't as great as the option parents currently have when their students are in class.
