Now, that’s unfair. There’s 100,000 plus cops in the US. Even if we had a bad cop story every day of the year, it wouldn’t be statistically significant.

Yea, let’s equate cops having the ability to kill people, injure people, and destroy people’s lives with almost no repercussions due in large part to people like you with a mechanic forgetting to put an oil filter back on a car or “jerking off in the back seat.” You’re totally the sane one in this thread.

You're defending two cops who knowingly injured an elderly woman then laughed and joked about it for six hours before they decided to get her medical attention. That is the reality of what you are defending.

You idiot

You could have a camera on me my entire life and not see me beat up a 74 year old woman.

Cops are out of control. They act like morons because moronic boot lickers like you excuse their animalistic behavior.

No mailman has EVER killed a dog, yet deal with them every day. Cops kill hundreds every year because they’re assholes and too stupid to deal with dogs without killing them. Think about that. They’re dumber than mailmen

No wonder BLM gets the support they do. People like you make that possible.

Wtf are you talking about. Explain to me step by step what he should have done then. From the first encounter until how he gets her to the police station.

“Hi ma’am! My name is... how are you doing today? Hoping we could chat for a minute.”

And you know, assess that she’s old, has dementia and didn’t even get away with the $13.88 roll back special.

And then, crazy, I know... maybe even use discretion to not bring her in.

This is quite literally the banner example of calling a social worker instead of police

I don’t know. I used to be a law and order guy but don’t run into many good cops anymore. They all seem to be militaristic and see citizens as the enemy. Overall, I just don’t respect them. I know there are many good ones, but think they are the exception.

I mean in all honesty I wouldnt mind one bit if these cops died violently. For the same reason it feels good for me knowing some concealed carrier dropped a guy robbing him. Same kind of evil to me.

3 POS laughing and conniving about fricking up someone's grandmother. Knowing these are out there how could you ever deny that cops look at you as subjects? When will we start seeing them as modern day redcoats?

I'm not sure if this makes it worse that the Walmart employees stopped her as she was leaving took the items back.

What was the cop going by to make the arrest? Had he seen the security cam footage yet?

I got the impression she may have returned it and for some reason, picked it back up? Confused maybe? IDK.

I just compared their salaries, education level, etc. Why wouldn’t we expect to get the same type of candidate?

Your logic is insanity expecting to get a better result because cops “can kill people”.

You are essentially proving my point. We are paying cops like auto mechanics yet expecting a much different standard because of some “higher calling” I guess?

Just reading the lawsuit text, I don't think he intended to arrest her for the theft.

quote:

. On June 26, 2020, Ms. Garner wandered out of the Loveland Walmart carrying $13.88 of items she had forgotten to pay for. She had Pepsi, a candy bar, a t-shirt, and some Shout Wipe refills. Walmart employees stopped her and escorted her back inside, where they took the items back. Ms. Garner attempted to hand them her credit card to pay but they refused. Ms. Garner, unable
to communicate with them or fully grasp what was going on, then walked out of the store and began walking the short distance back to her home.

quote:

22. Walmart called the Loveland Police to report Ms. Garner. Walmart informed Loveland that Ms. Garner was elderly, small and petite, that she was headed eastbound, and that they had suffered no actual loss because they had retrieved the merchandise from her.

quote:

32. Officer Hopp then – somewhat ridiculously – tried to jog Ms. Garner’s memory of what was going on.3 He said “You just left Walmart…?” 33. Ms. Garner continued to look at him with a blank, confused expression. He then abruptly said, “Do you need to be arrested right now?” Ms. Garner, still appearing to have no idea what Officer Hopp wanted, turned to begin walking again. She did not make it one step, howeve

You’re making cops sound like a protection racket.

“Nice liberty there. It would be a shame if something happened to it. Now how’s about paying me my money?”

You are one dumb mother fricker.

Keep it up though. You will love the new world you live in

You are going to destroy the profession of policing and celebrate it like you have made some righteous improvement in society, but I am willing to bet any amount of money it won’t end the way you think.

Do you honestly think the way this is being handled by people like you and others in society will lead to better police and less crime?

Y’all are behaving like ignorant children that aren’t happy with mom and dad so you want to burn the house down not thinking where you are going to sleep tomorrow night.

Talk to us about the state pension and retirement benefits all cops are aiming towards when they sign up for the force, and how those compare to the retirement benefits of a mechanic.

quote:

Your logic is insanity expecting to get a better result because cops “can kill people”.

You make this statement and call other people insane.

Yes, absolutely. The fact that cops can kill people most definitely means more is expected of them. Or let me rephrase, more should be expected of them according to people capable of rational thinking. Don’t worry, you’ve made it clear that doesn’t include you.

Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan where people are actually actively trying to kill them every day have higher expectations of discretion and thresholds for use of force than you want cops to have. And they actually get punished at a more severely and at a higher rate when they do frick up. But again, you’re totally the sane one in this thread.

quote:

You are essentially proving my point.

You do not have a point.

quote:

We are paying cops like auto mechanics yet expecting a much different standard because of some “higher calling” I guess?

No. We expect a much higher standard because they have a gun, a badge that allows them to use that gun whoever they “feel threatened”, and the ability to ruin people’s lives whenever they feel like it. The fact that you don’t think people with that level of power should have higher standards for their behavior just because you don’t think they’re paid enough is legitimately terrifying.
