I'm one of two posters here with real life experience in Colombia.

GFY

You being trapped in the shite hole that is Louisiana your whole entire life and not getting to experience the wonders this world has to offer you is not my fault nor my problem.

Enjoy the babes and start planning your trip.

OK... I have had enough.

This is coming from someone on Texas....so be happy with the Latinization of Texas because the Mexicans are taking back the state and they will not have to fire a shot

Yeah I completely understand it comes across that way, but you've been out of the state at least once in your life. These people act like their Parish is the be all end all of the world.

And I've been to Louisiana before.

When was the last time anywhere in Louisiana, Texas, or wherever in the usa that a helicopter had to worry about landing on land mines that were placed by bad guys?

My GF is from Barranquilla and I have traveled extensively in Colombia and Venezuela.

They are VERY 3rd world. If you hang out in the nicer areas it may not seem like it but they are definitely third world.

My GF and other Latin American friends would tell you the same.

People in this thread should either A - read a book for once, or B - leave their swamp for once. Because it's obvious how little you people know about the world.

Does your GF still have both of her legs?

She certainly must be missing her eyes and ears.

Also:

1) The cold war is not over. Only a fool would think a handshake and a wall coming down changed anything.

2) Columbia is a third world country.

3) I have a swamp 150 yards out my back door, and I have had to have extra pages added to my passport...twice.

4) Columbia is also a shite hole. A beautiful shite hole, but a shite hole nonetheless. It's a lot like Jennifer Lawrence's shithole, in that respect.

How can people not understand that "3rd world" has nothing to do with the economic status of a country? Saudia Arabia is third world. Columbia is third world.

Colombia's problems are many, such as extensive corruption, desperation leaving to lots of crime, ongoing civil war with the FARC, dangerous neighborhoods with gangs, drugs and a dysfunctional government.

There are a lot of very Colombian good people, I love the culture, in ways I like it better than the US, but I would not want live there. An American was killed in his house just a couple of houses down from my GF the other day. You have to be very street smart to survive in the barrios ( those outside of the upper stratus's).

Being a Gringo makes you an automatic target as they think you are rich. I avoid the streets around my GF's house so they don't start thinking that my GF is rich because she has a gringo BF.

Doing business in Colombia is very frustrating, people are generally lazy and untrustworthy. You will see a lot of men just hanging around the streets doing nothing other than drinking beer and just hanging out.

Don't get me wrong, I love the country in many ways, most are good people, struggling to survive, trying to do the right thing. The system is definitely stacked against them.

I love the music, the art, beautiful places to visit, good food and beautiful women of course.

Colombia is awesome.

As long as your Estate has a high wall with barbed wire, your guards are trained and armed well and your car has substantial armor to withstand 7.62 rounds during the kidnapping attempts. As long as you have that going on, it kicks butt.

Visited some friends that are part of the National Police in Bogota some time back. They took me to their house for a welcome party. Mid way through dinner they noticed some dudes trying to steal one of the cars out front. They confronted them, got into a firefight and killed two guys. Their buddies came and took the bodies away and they came back in and continued drinking. It was surreal.

Don't ever tell me that place isn't Third World.

Cries about people stereotyping Columbia; calls all LA residents swamp dwelling coonasses; continues to be the maddest person in the thread.

You Aggy are a weird bunch.

He's better than us because he went to Columbia once and we're just a bunch if inbred Cajuns who've never left the swamp.
