I will never understand why people think employees at a parts store are mechanics. After you got shafted on a battery you are going to trust them to check your starter?
Well...

The technician (seemed like a pretty sharp guy) said GM posted something a while back saying that the Crank Sensors go bad after a number of years which won't allow the engine to turn over.
Replaced it and put the starter back in. Charging the battery now then I'll give it a shot.

It seems like it worked out pretty well for him. Thankfully he didn't have to rely on your advice.

Hell yeah, stuff like that..it either makes you or breaks you.
After a thing like that, you were ready for the next challenge. Am I right?

Didja ever own a Kaiser Jeep?
I only owned cheap American cars. They were just transportation to me. The cheaper the better. Usually Fords.
Oddly enough, I got between 250,000 and 300,000 miles off each of my cars. Maintenance really paid off!

No offense taken. I am always up for learning something new, especially if it saves me money.

Installed the Sensor and she cranked up like a beauty. Sensor was like $51 bucks. Thanks for all the help OT! Hope this thread helps someone in the future.
Sorry not a single one of us thought to suggest that to you, damn lol. Anyway, glad you got it figured out, nice work!

I have a 63 civilian Gladiator P/u
I remember seeing them on the road when I was young. Not a ton of them, but enough to where it was not an oddity. Back then, poors drove them. Their popularity now is because they ooze character. Congrats.

Crank sensor, he said that earlier.

Oxygen sensor
Those wouldn't affect the truck ignition.

And neither would a crankshaft position sensor. Motor would still spin. Something isn't adding up
Posted on 2/27/16 at 8:44 pm to meauxjeaux2
He said the crankshaft position sensor often gets out of whack and prevents the starter from cranking, in the hopes to save the crankshaft from getting damages.

That Is odd as hell. I'm looking at the vehicle starting electrical schematic right now aND the Crankshaft position sensor is nowhere in there.

Of course it would be something weird like that

I'm pulling for RadBro. It's like he really is a RadBro, probably 30.

not only ODD, but costly, sending folks in circles , and the sensor is not in the loop?!
wtf?!

What this tells me is that it was a loose connection all along. Probably at the starter but could be battery cable related bease he fooled with them too. I bet if he would have hooked everything up and not replaced the sensor it still would have started. That said, if the truck fails to start in the near future the problem is undoubtedly related to a poor connection. Avoid side post connections at all cost. They will fool you.
