when you hear the starter click, and you know you have amperage (new battery) what you want to do is knock on the starter lightly with a hammer, and this will usually free a stuck solenoid to get it started, sounds like you do need a new starter though.

It's probably the contacts in the starter. It's an easy fix if you already have the starter out. You should be able to get the contacts at autozone or napa for about $20.

He is just coming of age 15 years after the turn of the century?

I've replaced the battery since the guy at autozone told me it was bad. It still does the same thing.

Jumped the gun and took the starter out already. I'm going to bring it to Autozone to get it tested. Hoping that's what's wrong.

Before you try anything else, check for corroded battery cables.

Went to Autozone. The starter passed the test, as did the battery.
The technician (seemed like a pretty sharp guy) said GM posted something a while back saying that the Crank Sensors go bad after a number of years which won't allow the engine to turn over.
Replaced it and put the starter back in. Charging the battery now then I'll give it a shot.

Or pull each fuse and see if it is broken

well, thats a pretty easy bolt in, did it cost much? Last time I did one, it was about 19 bucks.

When you installed the new battery, did you clean the inside of the battery cables that connect to the battery? If they are corroded you will get all the symptoms you listed. The corrosion will not allow the maximum current draw needed by the starter but the lights will still work.

That is only for german cars.

Normally,The starter circuit doesn't have a fuse. It is designed to operate in extreme conditions,so you don't end up like a kid in a horror flick.

FWIW. Yesterday, I went to Advanced Auto Parts to get a 2-pack of 1157 tail light bulbs. They wanted to charge me $40! I went down the street to AutoZone and got them for $6.

I have a 63 civilian Gladiator P/u right now, with the Tornado OHC engine,4.54,gearing,three on the tree,24,000 actual miles. I want one of the M-715s with original equipment. The little 4 wheel drive indicator light even still works, the brakes are shite though.
